fixitrod
$33 Crimp tool $60 Wire $10 nic card You alread have a router which you can just build a crossover cable for one device too. $60 wireless router $20 wireless ethernet card Or since you have a router $10 nic card (circuit city) $60 for a cable (I'd buy a pre made cable for sure) But, for $10 nore you can have wireless. I'd go that route for sure. Edited November 22, 2004 by fixitrod

racer
very true fixit, but then id have to redo my other computer and the PS2 to wireless as well. other point is that in college the dorms and most of the aptartments have rj45 connections in the wall. so im going to put a wired ethernet card in the computer regardless. Most ram now days doesn't need to be matched. Try to find out what kind of motherboard you have and I can help you out there too. Most like it sdram and won't need another 64mb. You're motherboard will probably only except up to 256mb per slot of sdram but maybe only 128mb and most likely not ddr if it's from 2000. If it's one of the major brand pc's they may still be able to tell you what you have without charging you if you call. You definitly want more than 64mb. What processor are you running? I ask because it might be more worth your money upgrade to another cpu with a faster buss speed depending on what you are doing.

Then try it with both chips in it. You still want to see what the max capacity is per slot though. I believe that most of those boards would be a max of 256mb with 100mhz front side buss. I'd have to look it up though.
racer
kick ass, guess ill just take it apart tonight and see what i can do. it could probably use to be blown out iwth some air also.
fixitrod
Look on the motherboard for some identifying numbers and a brand. Get online and do a search. You'll most likely be able to find some specs. Some boards were two slotted with 256mb system max.
