It has a left hand thread that screws into the flywheel, and then a push bolt that threads thru the center of the puller and pushes on the crank. Dont forget a strap wrench to hold the flywheel while youre crankin on it to break it loose.... and buy a good one from Mac or Craftsman or Snap-on. fixitrod Posted November 15, 2004 Report Share Posted November 15, 2004 If you have a welder you can make a simple holding tool. Just weld two short screws to some flat stock the line up with the holes in the flywheel. Make sure not to put it in to far or it will hit the stator. I learned this when I saw a tool mat made. richwuest Posted November 15, 2004 Report Share Posted November 15, 2004 I have used the impact method on Banshees a few times and it worked great. But just a few weeks ago, I had a problem doing this on a blaster. Using the puller with an impact caused the end of the crack to squish out so that it was a little shorter and fatter on the end. To put the bike back together, I had to grind the end of the crank down in order to put the nut on. If it would have dammaged it just a little more, I would have been buying a crank.
