robinson373
hey guys, i know it has been discussed before but i couldn't find the thread with a search. I was wondering what you used to clean your chrome pipes. My riding pants have been pretty well burned up on them and they now look like shit. I remember hearing scotch brite pads, oven cleaner, flame..... what works the best without scratching or blueing the pipes? Thanks Mike
mat
Scotch bright pads are too course, if you are not careful you can scratch your pipes. Use 0000 steel wool and brake cleaner. They should shine right up.
sredish
Use 0000 steel wool and brake cleaner. They should shine right up. That is exactly what I was gonna say, they'll look brand freaking new again.

superchicken
a few months ago i did some detailed experiments with the use of heat and open flame to clean a set of pipes.didnt work for me but may for you.
Ducman
When I get just a little bit of riding pants melted to the pipes (large area but not thick, just a bunch of tiny dots in a grid pattern) I use mothers polish mag cleaner and the spots come off with a soft rag and a fair amout of elbow grease. Not as fast but a very safe method.
RNBRAD
I've always used fine steel wool with mother aluminum polish. Has always worked well.
