YFZ450 shocks are available from about $200-$250 where Elka no-rez are $450-up. I have a couple questions... 1. Which shocks perform better? 2. Which ones provide more bang for your buck? mat Posted November 4, 2004 Report Share Posted November 4, 2004 I have been pondering a similar question myself. Except, I am considering TCS shocks instead of Elka's. I think that I am going to wait and save my money for the TCS shocks. I really want my quad to sit a little lower than stock. I definately do not want it any taller. From all of the pictures and comments that I have seen, the YFZ shocks make the Banshee about an inch taller. This is enough to keep me from going with YFZ shocks, for now. locogato11283 Posted November 5, 2004 Report Share Posted November 5, 2004 for 250 bucks the 450 shocks are well worth the investment. however, compared to properly set up elkas the 450 shocks wont perform nearly as well. if you have the money and are willing to spend the 450+ then i say go for elkas. if you want something that is much better than stock but not as good as elkas and not nearly as expensive then go for the 450 shocks. either way you wont regret it. squish Posted November 5, 2004 Report Share Posted November 5, 2004 (edited) Have you seen the derisi 450 shocks? He makes them dual rate and changes the valving. Makes a good shock 200% better. If not equal might be better. I have the 450 shocks and they seem to be excellent as long as I have alot of preload on them because the seem to fade fast. If I lower the front its to soft. But other than that they seem better than my old elkas. I think there is to much leverage on the shock. If you look at the 450 the shock angle is more out compared the banshee. txblueshee Posted November 5, 2004 Report Share Posted November 5, 2004 I have elka dual-rate ssd's up front and a derisi re-work in the rear... the bottom of my pegs are a hair lower than 9'' off the ground with zero weight on the bike and 20'' razrs outback. I've ridden one 'shee with the 450 shocks.... nice... but then the guy rode my 'shee and wished he would've spent the extra change on at least some front elkas or tcs for that matter. DUNEDEMON Posted November 5, 2004 Report Share Posted November 5, 2004 For those of you with the 450 front shocks, Todd at TCS does re-valve & re spring them, not a bad idea to get those shocks to work to their full potential on the Banshee. PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 5, 2004 Report Share Posted November 5, 2004 I've never experienced the 450 shocks but my Elka's are sweet you don't feel bumps hardly at all and they have made up for some horrible landings many times.
