danacurtis
i was wondering if anyone has a cr500 motor for sale (any condition is considered). Im going to try to make a trx500r quad but dont have the 250r chassis or a motor yet. If you know of any let me know, thanks.
pimp559
There is a complete quad on ebay like that for sale right now for $1900.00.
danacurtis
i have seen that one, i want to build my own because im going to use it for my senior engineering design project. I want to try to build it with urithane bushings to try and reduce the vibrations these machines are legendary for. I actually thought about that one but its in tennessee and im in New York, so im still looking for parts. Thanks.
BigRed350x
probably would be easiest to buy both new. Roll Design makes some 250R frames and suspension, and if you know any stealerships you can probably have them order you a crate motor. thebloker
No, shit, you guys get toselect your own senior design project? I am assuming that you are a mechanical engineer; we had a small list of projects to choose from, and most of the projects blew. After I got switched around from several different projects, I got stuck on one that I didn't really want to do, and now several months in, all of the tech spec changed. How come you guys are getting such a late start? (well, at least for me, we started on this project a couple of months ago and it isn't supposed to be finished until May). danacurtis
im a junior this year, so im actually gettin an early start. Its pretty sweet we can choose whatever we want but there is pretty strict guidelines we have to follow as far as looking at things from an engineering standpoint. I just figure its a good excuse to spend money on a project that ive always wanted to do.
thebloker
Thats pretty sweet that you get to choose whatever you want. Do you guys have an allocated budget, or do you have to fund it yourself? We got $2000 for this project for Raytheon to design something that can be built for $2500 at a production of 5000 units, go figure. You ever heard of producing a prototype for less money than the actual production run cost?
danacurtis
we have to fund it ourselves so im going to try to do it for less than 2000. Its not gonna be the prettiest or nicest conversion, but for now thats about all i can afford. That would be sweet if my school would fund it but not a chance. I pay enough to go here they should at least pay for me to build a badass quad. Oh well.
locogato11283
i think this is gonna cost u alot more than ur willing to spend. and if you are gonna do it, may as well do it right. thats a pretty costly experiment.
nater006
I got a newer water-cooled 500R motor at home right now but its probably going in my 2001 CR250R project..
