thecabinboy
Just wondering if I should change the oil in my jeep before I go on a trip or after I come back if I'm about due for a change?
joshv5.0
can't hurt to do it before but i think you will be just fine, most people go 5-6 thousand between changes and its usually fine. i just wouldn't make a habit out of it btw i'm a mechanic
BigRed350x
I had a jeep cherokee in high school that me & some friends bought just to beat the hell out of. We didn't change the oil in it for 13,000 miles and when we finially did it was in decent shape still. We figured it was some high end synthetic crap the previous owner put in it. We ran that thing till it blew up two years later. It was a beast.
locogato11283
i change the oil in the cummins diesel about every 4 to 6 thousand. if you are in doubt, just go head and change it now.
nater006
I'd change it, personally. Yeah, it lasts longer than the 3000 mark but its more broken down later in its life, and extra heat from towing -- which may or may not occur, depending on how good your jeep keeps cool -- doesn't help it. It can't hurt, thats for sure. You got a transmission cooler? If you're towing with an automatic, one of those is almost mandatory in my opinion..
