German Shepherd
I had a blood hound. He was about 7 years old. I trained him for search and rescue and had a really strong bond with him. He has had cancer for 2 years. Within the last 2 weeks it got real bad . Today I had to put him to sleep I am going to bury him tomorrow at a special spot at the cabin . I was wondering if any of you had a similar experiance and how you delt with the anger and sadness. Im just so fucking devistated
broke
I've had to put one of my dogs down after 13 years. It felt like something was torn out of me. I wish that I would never have to do it again, but if you have pets it comes with the territory. The only advice I can give really isn't even advice, it just gets easier with time. Sorry for your loss.

Cotton eyed Joe
Last year my dad had to put his wolf/lab to sleep because she became too unpredictable, and she ripped his hand open. She was a smart dog, great fun to play with, but she was way to wild, and getting dangerous. And, my moms dog that was a mix of Chihuahua, Pekanese, Yorkshire, and Poodle died after 13 years from heart failure. She was possibly the smartest dog I've ever seen. She wouldn't just do normal tricks like roll over. She could turn around, and then roll over, or she could go get 1 of 10 different toys laid out on command. She started shaking her head "no" about 4 years ago. You could ask her "You want to go out?" She'd start barking and swinging her head left and right....fuckin amazing dog. She knew when you said "Want to be held?" "Want food?" and she'd either bark and stomp her front feet or swing her head in a "no" motion. They have a new dog now. Muffin.....and she's got some anxiety issues but shes ok... Not real smart. No real tricks other than getting on the table when no one is looking and eating everones lunch. I hope to get a Weimaraner next summer. I'm kind of hesitent as I know that one day she'll die. I've been through 4 dogs and 2 cats in my life that I liked, and it can get tough when you get so attached to them.
Toomey Banshee
Our dog "Sammy" died on our kitchen floor last December, a week before Christmas, in front of my kids. She was only 4 and was an awesome girl. I know what you are going through. You just have to go through it. This is her about 2 weeks before she died. My advise is after a brief time get another. Helps alot. My new male Lab. He is dumber than a box of DUMB hammers but a great dog. Not a mean bone in his body.
racer
yeah, i feel for ya. we had to put my shepherd/boxer to sleep cause he had heartworms. that dog was so damn smart, he was fast too. once i saw him catch a bluejay mid-air, then he ate it. it was bad ace. no we have a yorkie. hes nice but like stan's dog has anxiety issues. that fugger wont let you leave the house. i hope you get another real soon though. get a german shepherd, they rule, or a lab. We got a full blooded german rottweiler"sp?" when my daughter was born and they grew up together "daughter being only child" so, they were like best friends. well Kenya "ROTT" died about four months ago she was about 9 1/2 yrs old.. my daughter cried for about 2 weeks straight and then she stopped now she set on getting a Pugg "sp?" So, I'm getting her another dog. She told me she needed another buddy to hang out with @ the house..
racer
yeah, he went in for a checkup one time and they diagnosed him with it. it was too late for meds, but they had a surgery that could be done. the op. would have cost like $400 bucks which i would willingly pay now, but i was only in like 4-5th grade at the time. he lived for another four years after that and it went into recession. then one day it came back with a vengence(sp?). so we had to put him down. 2Smoker
Tthat's the worst part about having any kind of pet - being a human you will always outlive them and see them die. All that matters is he had a good life.
rebelbanshee2
we had a lab/basset hound mix it was 14 years old and had arthritis and this wierd snottty nose problem. We ussually took it to my grandpas farm to stay when we went on vacation, but it was getting too old and we didnt want to bother my grandparents with it...so we had to "put it down"....does anyone shoot their dogs still? or is that not politically correct anymore?
