Wallrat
Ya I do. I paddled 30 miles of open ocean in a tandem sea kayak to a coastal island this past summer. Also I've got a Riot Tekno that I mostly use for surfing since here in Southern California we don't have very good WW. What are you paddling? stu
good to hear wall!! i paddle a sub 7 right now but one of my flatmates is on team GB for freestyle and sponsored by riot and peak uk for kit. she can get me a half price riot boat so i may keep the sub 7 for running rivers and get a riot air or orbit for the play!! and i can be taught some cool tricks now too stu Edited October 22, 2004 by stu
Wallrat
I hope you don't mean from me, I'm an old school paddler. The Tekno is my 2nd WW boat, first one was a perception Whiplash (voted 3rd worst boat ever made). I just got the Tekno so all my moves are circa 1997:pirouettes, endos, squirts, etc. I seriously considered getting an air 55 but the tekno is supposedly better for surfing and one popped up at such a good price I couldn't pass it up. Right now I desperately need fins for it as the winter swells are starting to pick up here in Cali. I can hold an edge pretty good up to 6 foot but anything more and the ass starts to slip out. Last thing you want on an 8 footer is to lose your edge and spin around to face the wave. I've heard that Riot sucks with customer service so I'm halfway debating just installing surf fin boxes so I can use regular surf fins. More expensive but better than having to depend on Riot to supply my fins everytime I break one.
nater006
Yep. I have a Perception Avatar 15.5 and do some open water paddling in it. Small enough to have fun in, but big and sleek enough to go fast
