2k2shee
i just got new front suspension for my banshee (quicksand +2,+1 and works triple rate w/o rezzies) and i was looking at a little bit of motor work. ive heard suspension before motor, so i guess its time for the motor. i talked to gary at quicksand and he said to shave the head 30 thousands, lighten the flywheel and advance the timing 4 degrees. thats what i was planning on doing anyways, so i guess he told me what i wanted to hear. im running a dynoport 2-into-1 right now, im planning on either fatties or t-5's. gary was saying that he liked the lrd pipes, and i know alot of people on here are favoring the ptr pipes. i want some more or less all around pipes. im planning on porting the motor this winter when i rebuild it also, thats one reason i was thinking t-5's. any comments/suggestions/opinions are greatly appreciated. when i get done, it should be like this
txblueshee
You are on your way to having one badass machine.... those are all great mods (especially the arms and shocks). What kind of riding will you be doing? If your duning get you some cpi's or t-5s.... mx or woods get you some fatty's, ptr-mids, lrd's or pro-circuits or rockets. Don't forget the ass-end either... still can mod the swingarm, axle and back shock, which reminds me.... what kinda tires you running? All the engine builders I've talked to said fatty's/ptr-mids kick ass with a mx port. BTW: Welcome to the HQ!! 2k2shee
i was thinking a +4 durablue axle, im not gonna mess with the back suspension for now, im runnin some wornout ass trekkers, im gonna get some kenda klaws or similar tires, i like the 18" size tho, i ride mostly woods and fast trails, open feilds, creek beds, stuff like that. txblueshee
If you're gonna be fucking around in creek beds and trails I wouldn't suggest anything smaller than a 20'' on an 8'' rim...... klaws are bad ass tires.... everybody on here that runs them swears by them. I run 20x11x10 razrs, wish I would've gone with a 9'' rim. It's been almost 2 years of HARD riding and there still 75%left. The axle is a good choice... don't know if I'd go with durablue if I was buying new though, but to each there own. Hell you might even want to look into a -2 or -1.5 swingarm... it would be the shit for your type of riding. Mike
Leadfoot350
after market extended axles are heavy. Dont get one unless you really need one. Stock axle is 11 lbs and the other ones feel like
2k2shee
how many horses should this set up be putting out? i would really like the extended axle. i do fine with the 18"s, i think the new 19'' holeshots would be pretty cool to try tho, and other motor work suggestions? locogato11283
www.eric-gorr.com for 250 bucks you can have yourself a badass machine. he does a really badass woods port thats got tons of low end and midrange. the power is smooth and very responsive. youll be very happy. id try some klaws for tires. t5s work great with that porting or even a stock engine. how u like ur QS arms? i love mine. they look sweet as hell. boonman
The next motor mods will work splendidly. All very cheap, as BD mentioned. As for the tires you mentioned, I ran 18" rears for a bit. Untill I wised up and got a set of 20" Holeshots. What a difference. I wasn't skipping over anything anymore. I don't even run a skid plate anymore..... I HIGHLY recommend that you shorten that swingarm up a bit. I am running a -2.5" Untill you actually run one, or ride a bike that has one, you can't fully realize the potential of this mod. I did it,. and I can't believe what the hell I was waiting for. The bike is EXTREMELY easier to ride. I couldn't believe the difference in spinning with the stock arm, and actually putting it to the ground with the shorter one..... It truly is a night and day difference.......
