Boare
Hi, I've been looking around for an engine builder. I saw Passion mentioned on this board awhile back. For those who have had work done, specifically the strokers... Tell me about your experience if you would? Thanks,
SyNtAxx
Hello, I dont have his stroker yet......but he did port my jugs..... He is one of the easiest guys to talk to. He will build and port to your specific riding style. VERY knowlegable...give him a call and see what you think... Cant hurt to inquire.... Boare
Nick, What do you think of the performance?
SyNtAxx
Hello, I am very pleased with the bike. It is only a MX port at the moment... I didnt go to radical because I wanted to use the jugs later for his stroker setup . That being said the bike is very quick. My setup is primarily for woods and trails. However I have beaten amny banshees...Toomey Pipes shees, a "Bad Assed Alba Banshee" ( The losers opinion not mine) and countless others. Dont get me wrong it is by no means an all out drag bike, but I thinkit would be safe to say I produce about 65 or more horses Also...the bike responded just as Jim told me it would... a less twitchy powerband that keeps pulling and pulling... Give him a call... and tell him what you need or want...and he will taylor a solution for you Nick
locogato11283
well let me start off by saying that i dont wanna knock anyones work or their abilities to build fast shit. i have a 4mm longrod passion engine with the 12 port. from day 1 this thing has had a really bad dead spot in the midrange which absolutely does not suit my riding ability at all. i hate it in fact. top end wise its faster than hell. it will easily pull a 17 tooth front sprocket and i think itd go higher. for dragging i think its prolly a really good engine. now for the bottom and mid. this engine in now way will even compare to my brothers $225 woods port on a stock stroke by eric gorr. no way, it cant be done. ive tried everything from pipes to carbs, jetting, everything i can think of and i cannot get rid of the dead spot. ive heard this engine is supposed to make really good bottom and midrange power but im telling you right now that it does not. im sure there are several other passion owners who would agree with me. there is a 14 page post in the jetting forum about this very issue with absoultely no remedie. jim at passion seems to give no help on the matter which i dont understand. if i were a builder id help at all costs. i am not satisfied with this engine and that is why my passion cylinders are coming off my bike and something else is going on. in fact its already underway. i hate to discourage some of you guys from getting a passion port job, but until there is an exact fix to this problem i suggest something else. BitchenBanshee
What compression are you running at? I've seen where engine builders will hog it out to a point where the compression is gone. Compression is one of the main points for a good bottom end. Mine is ported by patriot with a "Hot Dune Port". He suggested 20cc for drag racing and 17cc for woods or low end. I usually keep the 17cc in there and this thing has power like a tractor! I can usually beat about 70% of the banshees I drag, but I weigh 210lbs as well. With 17cc I run at 180lbs of compression at sea level. If it is hogged out too much youre likley to be around 150lbs at 17cc!!
oldbanshee
I have trinity stage 2 ported jugs, gone over by micro edm. My bike makes good power everywyere. My compression is only 142 exactly on both cylinders. Even with the giant flat slides and no air box it makes really good mid power. It'll pull the front wheels off of the ground rolling on the throttle. I never have to clutch it, ever! Unless I want some extra boost in a higher gear racing up hlls. Tony Burkhart will be hogging out a little extra when it comes apart, and some case porting(hopefully) will be done two. Probrably for about 200 bucks. Not sure what kind of pistons I'll be going with this time, right now it has some cut wisecos in it.
rebelbanshee2
nothing but good things to say about passion racing. Great service, and my +4 stroker has unbelievable low, mid, and top. Massivley broad power band that starts low and does not fall off. it even has a respectable amount off power off the pipe for a banshee. And all this is with a choked up intake with 28mm carbs and ported stock cages. when i put v-forces and 34mm carbs on this winter its going to be even better which is hard to fathom.... tats4life
Mine is ported by patriot with a "Hot Dune Port". He suggested 20cc for drag racing and 17cc for woods or low end. I usually keep the 17cc in there and this thing has power like a tractor! I also have a patriot racing motor. I have the full mx port..........i'm just running a long rod crank to give it more top end. I've got 195psi in each cylinder and i've raced jim's mx port and 12 port stroker........the stroker gave me a run but i still beat the guy by 2 bikes down the straight. There's a lot of people on here that like jim and jim's work and hate dan (patriot owner) because he doesn't answer your email the same day or answer the phone at the shop. His customer service off the bat is none.........but when it came time to tuning my motor he helped with everything he could including sending me numberous sets of needles (at no cost).....and was truely concerned that I couldn't get my motor running right. If I ever build another shee motor dan's gonna get it plan and simple. He already has one of my R motors.....and i've got nothing but time when it comes to Dan. Are your and loco cylinders running the same porting specs. Maybe the cyiliders should be looked at just to make sure there wasn't a mistake in a reading or gauge when they got ported.
