Ok, I am set to go and get the shee this next week but havent picked out a dealer yet. There are 5 yamaha dealers next to me and am curious how much a new stock shee really costs. I know the msrp is around 6K, but what does it cost the dealer.. whats their invoice and what can i expect? I really dont like talking to salesmen blind, so any help would be excellent.

Call all the dealerships in the area. You could go by instead but calling is quicker. Ask for an out the door price, ask about discounts on accessories, etc. If you find a dealership that strikes you as better than the others (nice salesman, not pushy, good aftermarket parts selection, etc) then try to talk them down below your lowest price. The MSRP is what yamaha suggests the dealership sell it for. If they sell it at the MSRP out the door they'll still make a nice profit on it. Some dealerships (cough...alba...cough) tack on ridiculous "dealer handling fees". If you go in and aren't trying to be too cheap, but not afraid to walk to a different dealership, you'll do pretty good. Try to pit the dealer's offers against each other. If one says 5800 otd and the other 5500, ask the 5800 guy to match the 5500 but give you 10% off accesories.

I know one dealership around here wanted 7200 out the door and i was like :whoa: shopped around a little and got mine for 6300 out the door :headbang:

thatss fuckin outrageous. dealers here in missouri really dont come down on the price any. they know theyll sell them and are willing to let them sit a little longer to get full price. i think i paid 5800 for mine when i bought it brand new.

thats how it is around me.. Our closest dealer bumps the price up usually $300 - $400 over msrp then they act like they are doing you a big favor by nocking $100 right off the top of the price duh!!! you might be able to get em down to $6200 or so and they act like they are gunna loose money on you but they just like you so much that they are willing to do it for ya.. I have never bought anything there (well, one warrior a while ago when I was young and dumb) but I go in every now and then and get them down as low as I can on sumthing and then go over to canada and buy it...(or ebay)

Aound $6000ish seems to be the norm around here. To be completely honest with you, if you are not dead set on buying new the used Banshee market sucks for sellers and is great for buyers. I completely understand why someone would want a new one, but if you compare the quad side by side with a used one and look at the two prices, you would probably want the used one. Used Banshees aren't worth crap right now, they do seem to pick up somewhat in the winter, but not much. It's just another avenue to look at if you aren't looking to finance. Good luck.

Thanks for all the help. Just curious though.. I see alba action sports advertises their banshee that comes with FMF pipes,K&N filter, jetting & nicer bars for $5999, why would they be almost the same price as a stock bike? Alba is about 15 min away from me. I would much rather put the stuff on myself (kind of a pride thing), but if they are any good that sounds like a steal. Any ideas why they can charge so little?

at first it sounds like a good deal. but alot of times that first price you see isnt the right one. they will try to tack on freight charges, assembly charges, booking fee, blah blah blah. they try to get you interested with the nice looking number, then try to put the wood to you.

I bought my 99 new and paid 5400 OTD and added alot of bolts ons on. Probably about 2 grand in bolt ons and the top end job. I just put the usual stuff on, pipes, tires, reeds, cool head. Now I bought the 94 in my sig in December and it has everything I want to put on the 99, which is now my sons, i.e. extended axle and a arms, bigger carbs, works shocks, ported and polished, the usual upgrade stuff. The point I'm trying to make is I have about 4 grand more in the 99 and its not nearly as fast nor does it handle nearly as well as the 94 I bought used. Buy used, its cheaper and usually the smarter idea.
