sandslinger03
I went to the dunes this past weekend and was unimpressed with my fourwheeler. I want to change pipes. I have dmc 916's on there right now and want to change to PTR mids. I know that the DMC are low and mid pipes. The thing I don't like about that is it sacrafices to much top end. I want to have mid power for when I ride trails but want more top end. With the PTR's how much of change will I notice in the mid to top end. I ride mostly dunes and open trails with seldom tight trails.

I like them to for all around riding like you're descrbing. Mrmatt would line up with stock cylinder and ptmids at silverlake. He was running a +3 swingarm and he was very fast. I was very surprised. mrmatt
I've never ridden a Banshee with 916's so I can't offer a side by side comparison. But like Rod said, mine is pretty quik for having stock port timing. I can't really say that it isn't ported, since I cleaned up the intake and exhaust ports a little. But I think I was the quickest Banshee there w/stock port timing. But, I don't have a lot of top end. Don't get me wrong, it pulls as long as I need and want it too. But compared to the Rocket Pipes on broke's quad, the PT mids shut off a lot earlier. There was such a difference between broke's quad and mine that I didn't even find the end of his power band. It would reving so high that I was afraid to keep going and wait until the power dropped off. The point I am trying to make is that the PT mids may not give you any more top end, but you don't need a lot of top end to be quick. I have heard good things about the 916's, for the price of PT mids you could keep your 916's and have your cylinders ported. Without a doubt, you will be faster with this set up, than with stock porting and PT mids. Matt
Banchetta
I can't imagine the Pt mids having more top end then the DMC's, if so it would be minimal...How much top end do you really need? I ran in Michigan a month ago and road in Dumont last Feb. I never found a need for more revs.....maybe you need a taller gear or you might be overpaddled? sredish
I ride mostly dunes and open trails with seldom tight trails. Then get some fatties, you'll still have some low and great mid (little less than the PTs) AND you'll have some good top end also for the dunes and open trails. Toomey Banshee
Dunes and open trails = Toomey T-5's. Pro circuit makes an outstganding pipe as well

I'm just curious how they worked on stock porting.
sredish
and pt mids were 5 In no way am I trying to start one of those threads and I'm not at all questioning your pipes, I'm asking for honest info. The PT's were 5 hp under at peak I'm guessing, but what about in the 6,000 rpm range and/or the low/mid power area? In the XC environment I'm racing in, that is a much more important area of the powerband, than peak 10k rpm or so. I'm not really familiar with either pipe on the dyno, so it's all new info for me. Thanks man, later fellas.
