need some infor to buy?

i had a 400ex all done up like every thing. it got stolen so that put a big old dent in my pocket home insurence didnt cover it (yeah i know good ridence all that cuz it was a honda blah blah i know ) but now i aint into wheelies as much and want a shee just cuz they rip so hard? im not lookin to spend alot of money maybe like 3000 to 3500 tops. still tryin to recover ya know and with winter coming and lakes freez'n in like 2-3 months im getting the itch. so what do u think like years i will be looking at for that. dont really want 1 that done up would like to do it my self so basiclly some thing simple that runs and what year around will i be able to find? or would i be better off buying a new 1 and financing?

Don't know where your from, but here a 01 - 02 is about $3500 for a stock one.

I would always perfer new but if it's not likely because of funds then there's nothing wrong with getting a used one. Just check it real good so you know it's not a pile of junk.

If you're going to fix one up anyway it really doesn't matter what year. I'd stay away from the j-arm frames...that's where the top front suspension is shaped as a J instead of an A. I think that's 1987 to 1989 but not really sure.

 

Just buy one in good shape, good frame, bearings and whatever else you don't plan on changing.
