Tecate vs. suzuki 250 vs. trx250r

Recommended Posts

I know that the honda 250r is the best out of these but it is also always the most expensive. If I should come across a tecate 4 and lt 250 for the same price then which would you get. I guess I want to know which is the all around best. I have read an old atv magazine article where they tested the banshee,lt250,250r, and tecate 4 and the honda won. It said that the tecate was the fastest though. Man I wish I had that magazine. Anyway which would you guys get.

Well, I've never ridden any of those quads you mentioned, but I would get the Tecate. teh trx 250r- everybody's got one, the suzuki 250- fugly as hell if u ask me.

The tecate 4 looks pretty cool IMO and its a rare quad and not many people has one. Plus they can be badass when u mod em out. :yank:

u can get a trx250r cheaper now. they arent as expensive as they used to be. i would get a trx 250 out of all those 3 u named, just because it does out preform them in suspension and everything else.

Man its just so hard to find a freaking nice old quad though ya know. I am looking at one on ebay. The guy says that if the winner after deposit sees the tecate and doesn't like it then he will refund the winner. Sounds good but I have to find a way to get the quad from Tennesee to North Carolina. It is about 600 miles even from my house to his so I was thinking of having it shipped. Do you guys know if an atv dealership will pick it up if he leaves it with his atv dealership. You know just shipping from one store to the other.

Uh, suspension is the *only* thing it outperforms them in. Mind you yes, that is a large factor, but the Tecate-4's engine, hands down, is the best.

I had an '87 Tecate-4, an '88, and now have a '89 TRX250R and my '96 Banshee. The Tecates were really fast and fun but the handling wasn't all that great. My $.02, if you're looking for a 250, get the TRX250R. If you want more power out of it, just get it built.

The LT..hehe. They're fine too.. but my last choice..

Hey if your lookin for a TRX 250R my buddy has got one for sale its Clean as hell its got white plastics with Nac's graphics and powdercoated white frame , nerfs and swingarm, CT pipe and fmf silencer and its got some bling on the motor too. He bought it from some guy and has barely run one tank of gas through it, and it had a fresh rebuild on the top end when he bought it....if i had the cash id buy it...maybe i can get some pics if your really interested.... :headbang:

i think hes asking 3000....he bought it for 3600 and hasnt changed a thing, hell its hardly been ridden at all, that first tank of gas was mostly cruising just breaking it in....

Have any of yall looked at the suzuki 1985 lt250 in the for sale forum? If so what do you think. Also thier are a couple of lt500 quadzilla's for sale around where I live for a good price but I heard and read and article in the past that said that the always had extensive motor problems. They said that it was like a constant battle to keep it running good. Is this true? Between the lt250 in the for sale forum and a lt500 that looks as nice, which would yall get?

id go for the lt500. they arent that hard to get running right. make sure jetting is on and get one of those new head gaskets for them that wont blow out. other than that you might need to check stuff in the bottom end. those things are built like a tank and they have more power than all those others.
