nickxc
both have advantages, if you buy new you know no one has touched it before you and its all up to you how it is maintained and how it runs. The advantage of a used one is you can get one with some mods (pipes, filter, reeds, head, etc....) for less than the price of a new one. If you buy used just go all through it before you hand over the cash. I usually look at all the little things, cleanness, on the kick start side of the motor you can tell how much riding it has had by how much paint is worn off on the case, they all do it and depending on how much it has been ridden more paint (or less) will be worn off right under and in front of the kicker. take a compression guage and put that on it, fire it up and move it in gear a little at least, make sure it shifts ok and the clutch is working good, bring something to put the front end and rear end up on, check A arm bushings and front and rear bearings for back and forth play and looseness. just a few things I do when buying a used shee... Hope this helps!!!
racer
buy three blaters instead. one to drag out so that it will beat a piped banshee, another to sit in your backyard as lawn furniture. drop the third into the ocean as use it as a synthetic coral reef, its all the rage these days. fixitrod
I say used also. By the time you have the amount of money a new one cost you could have a lot of aftermarket goodies for the used one.
