helmets - which one and why

Bell helmets, the only way to go. They are extremely comfortable, and are super strong. Plus, the name has been around forever and they are #1 in name recognition. Also, they have some freaking styling helmets out this year. Mine's 10 years old and has survived several crashes, one including an ER trip. I should probably replace it, but the only thing is the visor has a small crack, but otherwise still perfect, kinda my good luck charm, so I don't wanna get a new one.

I use a Bell helmet. The best helmets are Snell approved. Shoei and Arai sell alot helmets to the racing crowd, but they are both expensive. Some of the higher priced O'neil helmets are really nice. Im not a fan of the chrome mouthpeice, that fad is about over.

Anyone here remember the old helmet and clothing company called "JT" ? Everyone wore JT gear back in the 80's  They sold that goofy open face helmet for years. :headbang:

i use a oneal helmet .. its pretty nice and was under 200 bucks.. full carbon fiber and is in the top 3 on the lightest helmets made.. bells are good too but bell helmets to me are uncomfortable for the fact that mouth piece is way to close... i prefer it to be away from my face a lil bit.. jmo!!!

The only way to buy a helmet is to try them on. Get one that feels and fits good. The best helmets are both D.O.T. approved and SNELL. They'll have stickers on the back. D.O.T. are common but the SNELL is more severe testing. Just remember... how much do you think your head is worth? Keep that in mind when shopping. Don't buy the cheapest thing out there. Bell has been around for years. If I buy a new helmet, that's what it will be.

i want a troy lee.  they are so sick, but are pretty over priced.

I have there Daytona 2. It's been holding up for 5 years now. The carbon fiber work is perfect. It came with stickers that are starting to look their age, but other than that it still almost looks new. For the price there are much nicer helmets.
