Just picked up a 2002 warrior

Yes there is a filter, but it is more of a screen than a filter. You should be able to see it on the side of the case. It is recessed into the case. I only change mine maybe every year. It only catches large filings so if you don't have any engine probs it really does nothing.

 

You can also wash it out instead of replacing it! This is what it is...

My warrior is also a "Wife's" bike. If I may, I suggest the FMF Megamax pipe. It is rather inexpensive and very pleasant to the ear. A good low rumble, but not too loud. It also is a spark arrestor so you don't have to worry about it. I'm usually not a FMF fan, but this pipe works great for the warrior.... It may not be the most powerful pipe, but definatley the best sounding and universal!

what ever you do dont put a dg on it. I put a dg full exhaust on my 2000 warrior and felt like a lost power. it sucked it was just loud as hell. I turned around and sold it and put my stock exhaust back on with a dyno jet kit and that picked it up quite a bit...
