Cutting your stator plate to advance timing

Some people cut their stator plate holes and rotate it to advance their timing. I measured my new ricky stator plate and 4 degrees was 4.5 millimeters. Just so people know. I don't remember which side of the hole you'd need to make the slot though. Dangit. I'll have to check when I have time. I believe it was to the left though. That would allow you to turn the stator clockwise. Just look and see which way the flywheel turns and you'd know.
