Calling all trucks

For a fab class we gotta make somethin. I was thinking about a 4" IFS lift for my truck, but the more I see lifts and how to put them on I think it would just be too damn hard. So I was gonna fab up a nice roll bar with a light bar on top along with a front brushguard. Anybody have some pics of how theirs connects and if somebody could possibly get dimensions I'd greatly appreciate it.

how about a set of ladder bars?? I'm not a fan of roll bars or "brush guards" Too many people runing brush guards on Mercedes SUV's. Takes the fun out of it?

Ladder bars ay? I wouldn't know what I'm doing...Not many people around here have brush guards or roll bars. I just wanted somethin to make that won't be too hard and will look decent in the end.

In Vocational Welding last year a buddy of mine built a brush guard for his Ranger. He ended up getting pretty good at it and started selling these things to friends. It was a pretty good idea if you ask me. It didnt look exactly like the $300-500 guards you can go buy, but t was a hell of a lot cheaper. I built a 5' by 7' utility trailer in the same class (for the shee :headbang: ). I built the thing for around $90.00 in metal and a $20.00 mobile home 3000 lbs. axle, and it looks exactly like the trailer's you can go buy for $800.00. I personally would look into the brush guard idea.

Go grab a 4x4 mag from the store , tons of styles and pics in there.

Most rollbars I've seen have a square plate on the bottom with 4 holes

that you mount right to the bed floor.

what type of truck are you making it for ?

And what materials are you using ? tube , box , etc...

Here is a pic of the guard on my X. The uprights basically curl under the bumper and go up and bolt to the frame. If you cut the guard just below the bumper that piece looks pretty much like a "U" I was going to make mine but I picked this one up used pretty cheap. It would be a pretty easy project though.

I made the rock sliders on my truck, bout a six pack job and they look neato! actually saved my doors so many times I lost count. rear bumbers are cake, and with the help of others an exo cage is not that hard.
