Wallrat
Don't you have imovie? If not go out and pick up ilife (includes imovie) for $50. If you have OS X then you should already have it. Basically you hook up the firewire, load up imovie, click on import and your golden. Brooke
hey doll. try just connecting them via firewire. a lot of stuff is plug n play with macs. once you connect it to the computer, the proper program will automatically open for ya. sredish
Well, I did plug it in and turn it on and nothing popped up. I also openend IMovie, but didn't really try anything. I'll go try it again. I'll do some investigating and let you know. I'll check out vegasvid also, loco. Later.
sredish
Sweet. I got the IMovie to pull the vid. Then I moved it over to IDVD and everything was fine. got it ready to burn, but IDVD won't recognize my dvd-r. not sure if I have to "prepare" the disc or not, but when I enter the dvd-r, the comp. asks me what I want to do with the disc, so the comp. recognizes it. I'll have to deal with it later. I did notice that IMovie saves the setup in a folder as a .mov file. how do i get it to .mpeg.
Wallrat
After you're done editing in imovie, go under file and export the vid to idvd. Um...I'm trying to remember all the details of idvd but i'm at work and don't have the mac here. idvd has a pretty good tutorial that will take you through the whole thing. I've always kept everything as a quicktime (.mov) movie so I couldn't tell ya how to make it mpeg. Maybe in some kind of save options? locogato11283
when i go to save my movies after i make them in the save menu it has a pulldown box under where you type in what you wanna name the file. thats where i chose what kinda file to make it. mine lets me pick like mpeg 1 or 2 or about 45 other things. just select mpeg1 if thats how yours is set up. sredish
What's the difference between NTSC and PAL??
Lee
IN GENERAL TERMS: NTSC is the format that every station broadcasts in and every vcr is compatible with (that is sold or broadcasted in the United States at least). PAL is a European standard. You can get VCR's that read PAL however, but I do not know of any U.S. retailer that would have PAL equipment for normal home use. On the DVD front: PAL has a higher resolution for DVD formats than NTSC. But in 16x9 the preferred method I've found is NTSC (I believe NTSC is preferred because of it's compression methods, but i could be wrong on that theory) So if you want to save any of your movies, compression and encoding should be in the NTSC if you live in the US and plan on doing more than just watching it on your computer. Hope this helps.
