sredish
Jeep, oh yea baby! The 2.5 ain't gonna see a huge difference with the header, it will see a little though, and I don't know how bad your shee needs it. I say, it's a tossup, go for the Jeep. I want to get some new tires for my Jeep but im not sure what i want yet. They're Mickey Thompson Baja MTX tires. They're better in the mud than a typical all-terrain, but not quite as good as a mud-terrain, but they're better on the highway, loose rock and hardpack than a mud-terrain. I really like t hem. Fro, I'd rather have a cherokee than my YJ. I love my YJ but the cherokee is just plain awesome, light, 4-dr, and lots of room. They have a tent cover that encloses the rear hatch for camping and stuff. I want one, and I'll get one someday.
superchicken
oilsmoke-i would put the money into which one your your wanting more performance out of now.a header wont give much hp without the rest of the exhaust to go with it,and on the intake side as well.more air in more air out. and for me ive had a few older cj5,7's.the 5 had a 289 ford in it an the 7 had a 351 windsor.they were both fun as hell, killed the 351 in the snow one year, blew a rod out the side of the block, victom of over reving, thats why i put a 289 in the cj5,that little thing would spin up something fierce sredish-is that the stock suspention artichulating(sp) like that? sredish
sredish-is that the stock suspention artichulating(sp) like that? uuuuuh.... No. 4" of complete suspension (shocks, 3.5" springs, .5" shackles). I had to get .5" shackles because std. length shackles will rub on the military wrap springs, and they're close with the .5" length. I hate lifted Jeeps with big long ass shackles, and it's so unsafe, and I also don't like body lifts for my personal preference. I hated to have to use .5", I'd rather have that in the spring, but oh well. Only thing that's stock on the suspension is the tie rod, drag link and front sway-bar. Got a new "telescoping" trac bar that works really well. I pulled the rear trac bar and rear sway bar (don't even know why they have them ), rides better without them. Also, the tires are 33". 2004LEBanshee
I got a 95 with the dam (2.5). 4" lift with 1" shackle lift. 33x12.50 BFG AT's. Custom Flowmaster exhaust (loud) K&N. 4.56 Gearing (needed). Detroit easy locker. It's pretty fun. Sucks on freeway though. SLOW. But good 1-2 gear pull. Oilsmoke
SuperChicken. I have built an intake out of 3-inch irrigation tube(Looks Great for 8 Dollars) and a K&N Xstream Air cleaner, 1 inch Aluminum TBS with a 4.0L TB so my Intake is maxed out. This setup adds a lot of Power for any of you 2.5 guys Over 20 Hp. The Cat was hollowed out before I got It..Muffler was almost new. I have a Purple Mopar Camshaft 440/440 lift with 248/248 duration waiting for the day, So I am sure this Banks header with the cam will get me over 165 Hp out of this 2.5 I also Run a Ford 8.8 reared with 4.10 gears with Disc brakes, JBconversion Transfercase with SYE, Tom Woods Custom Rear drive line. I used the United 4 Bangers forum For good info but i fell in love with my Banshee last year and spent all my savings. hard to focus on my Jeep. Where are some good Jeep Forums? sredish
Where are some good Jeep Forums? Shit, i haven't been to "my" jeep forums in so long, can't remember. Those 8.8's are pretty good axles and plenty beefy for 35's. Oh yeah, Jeeps-Offroad.com There's loads. Jeepsunilimited.com, Pirate4x4.com, jeepin.com. I tend to like the linked one best for just asking questions and talkin to others. I'd say go for the header, sounds like you can benefit from the added flow. I have a '90 2.5. Yep, there is a downside to my jeep, but I actually wanted the I4 as not to overpower my drivetrain. In my jeep, I don't believe more power is better. I run 4.88s and have plenty of low grunt, more than I really need. However, I'd like some intake mods, but the 4.0 TBI will only fit 91 and up, my 90 has a different bolt setup. So, I'm furked!! Like you, my Jeep has kinda been on the backburner. I still use it a lot, but I don't drag it to the trails like I used to, seem to be draggin the banshee more often. One thing about it though, you can hop in it and get looks from everyone in town. Jeeps are definitely head turners. Oilsmoke
4.88 Damm those 33 feel like little tires than I have the 92 MFI system works great. Yeah the 8.8 is a great Swap I also plan some 31's to go with my 2.5 inch springs. I am alot like you Don't like the body lifts and only what is need for clearing the tire with a Shackles.
