banshee carbs?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, got a quick question for you. Have an all stock banshee, its mint, but having a slight problem possibly. I noticed when i stopped riding that the overflow hoses drip just a small amount, every so often. Im wondering what it could be, shouldnt be dirty carbs because its not even been out in the mud or anything. The bike was sitting a few months before i bought it, but i put fresh gas in there and such. Anyways, its just coming out when the fuel is on obviously, im wondering if it truly does need cleaned or what? Im a beginner when it comes to wrenching on carbs. Also, on the low end it does a slight stutter when im going, not a smooth transition of power until it gets close to the powerband. The jets were bumped up slightly due to only using it in the cold weather, other than that, its not been messed with. I was thinking of just throwing some seafoam in the gas tank and seeing if that helps, but let me know what you think. I live about an hour northwest of pittsburgh. Any help is appreciated!

If it's been sitting for a few months, before you threw in sone fresh fuel did you drain the carbs? I can think you might of had oil/fuel seperation in the bowls. The oil will make the float valve act strange which could lead to your drip.

Check to see if you're carbs are out of synch.Whenever the slides are pulled out for any reason they must be synched.Everything on both carbs must be the same as far as needles, mains, pilots and airscrews.

The dripping overflow hoses is probably either float adjustment, worn/cracked rubber tip(s) on the float needle, or possibly just a small piece of dirt on the float needle(s). The low end hesitation might be cured by just airscrew adjustment, if not you may need to go a size up or down on the mains. Don't fear the carbs, heh, they are pretty simple once you know what you're getting into, you might check out the Jetting FAQ below. Good luck.
