boonman
4.6 is More gutless than the 5.4 BUT, the 5.4 is the preferrable motor to have if there is a choice..... I am sure you will be fine with it. Here are some specs for the triton motors.... TRITON

01bansheeke
the 4.6 is a f'in joke in the power department. IMO the 5.4 is definitely a better motor. However, I don't and probably never will own a ford so..take my opinion however you want.

fixitrod
I don't know if the crown vic's come with a 5.4 or not. The fuel mileage is almost identical in the trucks with both motors. If it's an option, go with the bigger motor. You'll be more happy in the long run. I don't think the 4.6 is a bad motor though.
NugShee
Sure there are some "FORDS" that look descent but they're all pieces of shit. I had a 93 4X4 F150 and even the dang air vents fail out. Dont buy it get a real car.

PUSH THE THROTTLE
The Crown Vics only come with the 4.6 now as the larger engine. If your getting used go to a police auction get one with 60,000+ miles for a cheap price and they haul ass compared to the non cop edition slap a new paint job on it, get seats out of a wrecked one, and ad rims. You can smoke most people with a car like that. I used to have one with the 5.8 police interceptor that thing was an animal. Kenny Brown makes the panther which is a crown vic with mods they are really fast also, the Marauder is also fast. FireHead
I'm surpised none of you geniuses stumbled upon the fact that the 4.6 and 5.4 are the same motor. The only diddefence is a slight bore and and stroke. The varied power figures across the Ford line is due to tuning per application, EPA number fudging, and just plain bellshit to sell cars. racer
The only diddefence is a slight bore and and stroke. yep. my dads 350 and his friends 383 are the same damn motor, theres no real reason to choose one or the other. whatever dude. So for instance you go into Yamaha and you can buy a banshee with a stock bore motor and say nos head, pipes, carbs... or you can buy one for say $700 more with the Passion 4mm stroker head, pipes, carbs would they still be the same motor to you? 01bansheeke
lol... did you even read what you quoted. 390Hp is NOT impressive with a blower. Gimme a break. new vettes knock down 400 at the motor..ALL MOTOR Also, the 4.6 doesn't hold a candle to the older 5.0 either. But, its just my opinion, think what you want. nickxc
Ive always hated ford , been a die hard GM guy but my monte carlo has cost me almost as much as my olds cutlas supreme did in repairs (tranny went in both, brakes every 8000 miles in the olds, electrical system in the monte. etc.). every little thing in the world has gone wrong with this thing . my dad has a 2003 silverado with 8800 miles (thats right 8800!!) and the front end fell right out of it. I broke down and bought a 1990 ranger at a state auction with 222,000 miles on it and it now has 239,000 and I havn't put a dime in it. gas and oil thats it. It uses about 1 quart of oil in between each oil change. I would take that thing across the country if I had to . I was leaving the bar the other day in the monte and now no tail lights . I checked every fuse in it and all are fine. so since the wife wants a 4 door im gunna try and pick up a used police cruiser at an upcommin auction. (sheriffs in my county are all over 50 years old. the cars are prolly driven up to 80mph twice in their carrear. not to mention that nothing ever happens up here in the boonies + you know they are top notch maintained) but anyway, what the hell I put in a bid on two of them today one 2000 and one 2002. both have 4.6 in em. hope its snotty . I know it will be faster than my monte, may not look as good, but blow its doors in (I found out police cruisers are faster than my monte the hard way, on the way home from a party in another town late at night one day)
