stamps96
I recently bought a 96 banshee. The carbs were cleaned by a shop but when i got it back one cylinder sputters through the powerband. The plug is very dark even after i changed it but i have toomey t-5 pipies and a modified air box. The other cylinder runs fine and the plug is not very dark. I have stock main jets but i bought 260's and 270's to put in but it seems like the cylinder is rich. I would think they would be lean if anything. Edited August 30, 2004 by stamps96

Brianshee
Could be many things. Float sticking or height not set right, carb not in sync, or a combination of both.
Brianshee
Does that plug have spark? Plug may be bad.
stamps96
When i leave the petcock on it doesnt overflow, the mechanic said he had everything put back together right but he didnt check the reeds. He said just ride it out so I did. It got a little better but not perfect. If i hold the throttle down half way it hits the powerband hard but the very top end it still sputters and sometimes its only one cylinder running at the top end. Brianshee
are the carbs in sync?
stamps96
I have to go now but if you have anymore advice i will read it tomarrow. Just so you know i mix it 32:1. It has good low end power and i have stock jets in right now.

roosthrower
is the choke tube connected? sometimes it's the most simple of things.
Toomey Banshee
Did you say you have "stock" jets in there? If so, they are I think 200's. With T-5's you need at the very least 280's. I have 320's in my son's 99 and he has basically the same mods. Whats your elevation and temp? If I were you, I would unplug the tors and parking break and jet way up. Start at about 300's, buy a set or two of plugs and work your way up or down on the jetting.
