Shee_Man
Just bought some Works shocks from a guy on the board... he said they're setup for stock a-arms however they seem to be about an inch to 1.25" longer than my stock shocks and don't seem to want to fit. Is this normal? How did other people install their works shocks if so?
nater006
It might be the difference in sagging stockers and newer Works springs.. You can... jack that side off the ground and unbolt the upper a-arm from the spindle. The lower, with wheel, brake, etc, should swing down far enough to bolt the shock in. Then lower the shee slowly (hold the wheel straight up as you do this) and the weight of it should push the lower a-arm up enough to attach the upper back into the spindle. banshee boy 98
if they are for stock a-arms they should bolt up just like the stock shocks. sounds like they are not the right shocks.
Shee_Man
sounds good nater... going to probably try that out... but they are a good inch longer than stock... is this normal at all or "should" they be the exact same length if for stock a-arms... i'm starting to think you're right banshee boy
txblueshee
Youre not just going to be able to "drop-in" the new shocks... you'll have to jack up the front end to relieve the pressure off of it. Mike
mrman99
my new works did not drop right in. I had to jack upt the quad and force it in.
.
when you pull the bottom shock bolt out shouldnt it drop down a good 3 or 4 inches more at the least until the tie rod is whats holding it up? I'm thinking the works are going to sag down a little more or just make your shee sit up higher. My tripples raised my shee up about an inch higher. I'm not understanding how they arent fitting? Or am I missing something? A picture would speak a thousand words
Shee_Man
yeah... it sounds like I'm not being clear. Alright... I jacked the bike up... both front tires are off the bike... so no weight is on the front end. I then took out the front shocks... top bolt and bottom bolt and they just pulled out. However the works shocks seem to be an inch longer and won't "slide in" between the two mounting locations to bolt in like the stock ones... the works are just too long by an inch it seems... jadaven
I put an my old raptor shocks on my shee they were about an inch longer...with the help of a pry bar i fixed that....but it raised the front a lil'...its still a whole lot better than the very old (and very used stockers)
