cam2
i want to have my jugs and head powder coated candy red or some variation of red and i was wondering if i could get away with having them coated with regular hotcoat powder or should they be coated with hi-temp powder? i can't seem to find hi-temp powders in red. i believe that regular hotcoat is recomended for use up to 250 degrees normal operating temp, my coolant temp stays well below 200 degrees (normally between 168 while running at a good pace, and 190 when putting around) but i don't know if there are areas on the head and jugs that exceed 250 degrees. i know that i can get hi-temp spray paint but i would rather have them powder coated. thanks. sredish
Just talk to your powdercoater and let him tell you what he feels is best. Afterall, if he tells you no you don't need it, then it's his ass when it flakes off.

LOL. it's a buddy of mine that has started PCing here lately and he wasn't sure. he's done some nice stuff on his shee and motorcycles but nothing for a hi-temp application. frocashmoney24
you might be able to get away with the norm powder coat, if it was me, i'd look for the high heat, but you can only do what you can find right?

rebelbanshee2
from what ive heard PCing jugs isnt a good idea because the 400+ degree heat can cause the sleave and cylender to get alittle out of whack and distorted. I think i read that reboring them to made sure its round is reccomended.
