xt45
Why didn't Yamaha add oil injection systems that mix the oil and gas automatically ? what is the disadvantage of have this oil injection system in Banshee. currently you have to do the pre-mix but with the oil injection system you have to only pour gas in the tank and yamalube in another small tank that the oil injection system will take care of it as far as mixing is concerned. Yamaha could have also put an option to switch off the Oil Injection System so those who want to do thier own mixing ratio can do so. Nighty
Automatic Oil mixing is unreliable. Premix rules.
deathmetal5150
They have a tendency to clog up, thus, you'd have a serious problem on your hands. Do it yourself, it may take a few more minutes, but at least you know its properly mixed and ready to go.
nater006
Plus, less crap to worry about going bad on the machine. Sure it'd be nice to be able to top off a nice (heavy) oil resevoir and just tank up on straight gas or race fuel, but there's more moving parts to go bad, more weight, etc.
Cotton eyed Joe
Yeah what they said. My sister used to have a blaster, and I don't know if it was mechanical or what , but when you would take off that damned red light would light up. Who knows if it was getting oil or not. We assumed it was. It would also light up for no reason. Thats the biggest bitch is you have to depend on a mechanism to dispense the proper amount of oil per gas amount fed into the engine. When you mix it, you KNOW its there in the tank waiting to be burned.
Ducman
Yeah, Oil injection, U dont want it. Recently my wifes blasters blew up because it went out. Then you end up buying them a YZF 450 even after the blaster is rebuilt better than new because you get tired of hearing how you ride a nice new quad and all they got is a cheap used piece of shit. J/K It wasn't like she had to twist my arm very hard for me to get one for her as long as I get to ride it of coarse!
.
they actually do make very reliable injection systems on snowmobiles, but they arent as worried about weight, and the design allows for it more I guess. Also another note, did the rz350 have oil injection? I think thats premix as well isnt it? That would pretty much sum it up if it was. Nighty
My rd/rz 350 did have oil injection. but the oil pump was wacky so i switched to premix.. Did the same with my 70cc scooter / moppet or whatever you guys call em over there.. Removed the oil injection stuff, removed water pump and switched to a lightweight electrical waterpump. Great improvement..

frocashmoney24
yea, my friend got a 02 blaster a lil ago, and first thing we did was put a oil blockoff in it, if it got clogged or didnt work properly your engine would fry and you wouldent know about it, i would never put it on a banshee!
