Maverick302
What gearing/tire size should I use for a ~1/4 mile (give or take 200ft)? I was thinking maybe a 17/39 with 20's, I might pin 6th by the finish, but just a bit curious if my motor would pull it, and whether that's a logical setup. Also, any ballpark guesses on what kind of times to expect? Mod's: FMF Fatties Coolhead w/ 20cc's 28mm flatsides Proflow filter Boyesen Carbon reeds/ cages Dirt digger clutch
roosthrower
I honestly don't think that you see 6th gear with a 17 tooth front. I'd go to a 16/41 setup and hope it pulls sixth. Et's will probably be in the 15's. Maybe high 14's if your lucky. Or you could just race 1/8th mile. Banshee's and other quads in general fair much better over shorter distances. fast frankie
before I got my motor work done I ran stock banshee tire with 17/39 gearing with pretty much the same settings as you I was going low 16 high 15's and the best way that I found to launch the bike was to just spin the tires out of the hole because like nyuk said it takes a big motor to pull a good tire
Southside Motorsports
that sounds like a pretty good setup. You may be able to run a little taller rear tire, try the the 20's first though
Southside Motorsports
i didn't read you mod's closely. i would run no bigger than a 20 in tire.
Maverick302
Ill probably end up with 16 or 17/41 with an 18 incher with shit for traction to spin on asphalt through first to stay in the powerband, and haul ass after that.
