dEcon you get more top end power. It doesnt really make it a better pipe. You sacrifice low end power for top end power. Heres a real simple and basic explanation. A two stroke pipe has different sections to it. The header, divergent cone, belly, convergent cone and stinger. The purpose of it is to harness sound waves, and to get rid of the burnt gasses. The divergent cone pulls the burnt gasses out of the cylinder and it pulls out a little of the unburnt charge (gasses) And the convergent cone pushes the unburnt charge back into the cylinder before the exhaust port closes. The belly is the section between the 2 cones, depending on how long the belly is, is how long it takes for the waves to travel back. so if you were to have a short belly the waves made from the convergent cone would travel back to the exhaust port fast, while that is good if youre at a high RPM it wont work too well if your at a lower RPM.

Yeah, and where the hell are my two full sets of toomey T3's ? Damn it ! I paid for them like a month ago and still nothing ? Screamin says not to worry ? But, damn man I am beginning to worry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

I dont know how I missed this post... but then again I was driving back from Tx.....

 

Ahhhhh T3's............ Have to be my favorite pipe to date. (cut that is) Lefty gave a great description of how pipes work. The T3's were quite the agressive pipe when left origional, but by removing the 1.5"-2" from the belly really brings them to life. I dont recommend them (cut) on a stock port motor or one thats mildly built. I dont recommend doing this to just any pipe either. Last I knew Mike Hair is responsible for origionally cutting the T3's and if anyone recognizes the name... He now owns CPI. One of these days I'd like to compare my cut T3's to a pair of cpi in-frames. Last I knew I was told they are very similar, but the cpi's have a little more low end while the T3's had more over-rev.

Ask anyone thats ridden my shee, or seen it run.... I'm sure you would be supprised at how well these old pipes perform.

That is some great info ! I am in the process of getting something together with some cut T3's. You say not recommended for stock porting. Do you have any advice, or additional info on porting that would help me with running the cut T3's ? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

With what I have learned and have been told about cut T3's............

An overall stock motor will actually be very "pipey" with them... You will have virtually no low end and then an explosive top. My shee is basicly drag ported w/ tons of compression/timing advance. Its set for alchy and gas. With the way Dave (Dave Moore) set my motor up, I have tons of power all over. I would only recommend the T3's if your going for an agressive port/play bike

I'm done riding for the year I think, so I got time to put it on n stuff.
Bad new Cotton eyed Joe. We still need one more Dune trip this Year how about Mid Sep? you can start the winter rebiuld in Oct. Oh if you like i can reupholster than seat for you. after all i have 25 year practice at it. Take me about 10 mins and no charge.
