Looking to buy a banshee

Hey all. I am new to quads (used to riding my YZ250 dirt bike) and I am now looking at buying a Sport ATV. I have always loved Yamaha's but wanted to see what you all think. Some of my buddies have banshee's and love them. Here is what I want, something new, something fast, something fun.

Price is no option (prefer under 9K). I prefer 2-stroke. Now I heard Yamaha has a new beast out that is killer (YFZ450).

Any thoughts on what I should get? Is the Banshee the way to go?

Well.. I will be riding mostly out in the Desert on hard pack, and occasionally on the dunes. So not much trail riding. I think the banshee is the way to go, plus the name is kick a$$

What kind of upgrades should I do right off the bat? I heard new tires are a must.. any specific brands?

Also, what is the general break-in procedure on a brand new "shee"? Just want to know what I am in for up front so I can plan my desert season.

Lots of questions, but I am new to all this so any help would be excellent!

Get some ITP Holeshots or if your in the dunes get some paddle tires. SKAT TRAK is a good brand for dune tires. Get some pipes, get an air filter. If you buy a banshee for what is the retail? 6000? then you could probably still afford a good engine kit after all that stuff if youre gonna spend 9k. If you spend an extra 3k on your banshee you WONT be dissapointed. Most other guys here should help because they all have banshees, I don't. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff...

I think you should quit screwing around and buy tat's banshee before it's gone.  it's a sweet shee, just look at the mods.

Werd :headbang:

Why buy a brand new one when you can get something like that cheaper, That bike will shit all over a stock banshee, and its a 2004 so it pretty much is new

It sounds killer but I won't have the cash for another month (sold an investment property) so :(

If I were to buy stock, what kind of break-in is excepted. Also I am in California and I understand with the newer two-strokes its difficult to get a sticker, and if you do get one you are limited to what months you can ride... any truth in this?

Price is no option (prefer under 9K).

banhsee comes stock well under 9k new

I prefer 2-stroke

banshee is indee 2 stroke!

verdict = banshee! tats banshe is a must get if hes selling it!!! its got all the mods on it so you wont have to bother getting them yourself and it will already be broken in. iv had my shee for 2 years now and its the best quad iv ever had. i race mx and its a good quad for racing as long as you keep it maintaned and loot after it good!

hope you get 1 and if you do we want pics!!!!

So for just desert riding the banshee would be the best? One of my friends keeps telling me to get a Honda 250R because they handle better and are easier to maintain... any truth? Also, I've just heard banshee's dont turn very well... will that impair me in the desert or is that just for mx? I just want to have fun.

Also, how hard is it to maintain a banshee... if I keep it stock will i ever have to mess with it? The twin-cylinders & carbs scare me, and I am not that good of a mechanic.

Final Question.. is a banshee the best bike for me if all i want to do is have a great time in the desert without lots of problems?
