cdw
Wow, you guys are runnin some high compression. But I talked to Jim and he told me that he built me a 200 degree ex. port. He built it for flattrack/TT racing, so he said thats what it should be(170 or so). Its not like it doesn't pull, thats for sure!!

bigboybanshee
I don't have a passion port or a stroker or anything but since I see everyone posting their compression, mine is 148 with 21cc domes just above sea level
cdw
Just wanted to let you guys know...........I had a race last week, it was a hard, grooved clay quarter mile track. Once I got set-up good I was runnin with a guy on a 535 stroked trinity motor. We were swappin back and forth the whole race. I was impressed because he also has that quad set up really good. Not bad for a set of stock lookin cylinders, right?

This swappin' places shit with a 535 Cheetah isn't going to get it...LMAO..good job ...Jim Edited October 2, 2004 by PassionRE

cdw
CDW, you should spend a little more time setting up the frame. full race Elka's?...... Yes, a better suspension set-up would be prime. If chassis could equal motor, I'd be laughin. But..............thats a whole other visa swipe Next season for sure.

roosthrower
I have the same infamous midrange bog too with my shee. It isn't a passion motor either. It runs good up top and the plugs look great with 460 (yes 460) mains on stock carbs. I'm not even going to attempt to get it running the way it should be until I get some 34mm intake manifolds and a set of cut t3's. I got 34mm roundslide mikunis too so I guess I'll be the second person with these carbs trying to get them jetted right. I guess I'll be posting in this thread more when the time comes. I know how yall feel though. I spent alot of time changing out needles, syncing the carbs, and changing out mains without getting rid of the bog. ssbanshee
has anyone tried to tune it of a dyno yet?
Schizo
I made great progress in getting this motor jetted right this weekend. As you can see i've tried a ton of different jetting combinations...... but i still had a little bit of a dead zone in the midrange. It appears that this motor was a bit lean at 1/4 throttle and a bit rich at 1/2 throttle so i put in a leaner tapered needle and moved the clip down 1 spot and that seemed to be just what it needed, the dead zone is about all if not completely gone! It runs like a raped ape all the way through and pulls very hard. I think with a lean 1/4 position and a rich 1/2 position the midrange was just outta balance creating the "deadzone" and by getting these 2 throttle posions balanced out the "deadzone" is gone. Final jetting specs are = 178 mains, 48 pilots 1 1/4 turns out, BEG needles on the 4th clip position.
