banshee or yf450

Recommended Posts

Well you asked in the Banshee HQ so... :) you'll probably know what to expect.

They're both fast. I'd say it depends on the type of riding you're doing, or what you expect to get out of it. You can get some extreme engines built for the shee. If you're looking for just something to play around on, the 450 might be a better bet. But, if you want to go really darn fast, modify excessively, etc... the shee is untoppable!

BTW, welcome to the HQ!

I had this same delema and i went with the shee. The 450 is set up for more trails/racing.(if im not mistakin) the shees is just flat out fast but i choose the banshee because it has so many aftermarket parts and i wanted to get a new two stroke before they stop production. But that's just me.The 450s are very nice but they're also cost a lil more. It looks mean to but if you think bout the banshee it hasnt been changed much since 87? and if it wasnt a great quad in the first place you think they would have changed it by now.

All up to what you want though either way cant go wrong but all i have to say is

BANSHEE!!!! :headbang:

depends on experience in riding. the banshee is for experienced riders, and is a whole different ride than the yfz450. if you are a beginner i would have to say the yfz 450, its more suitable. on the banshee u gotta keep the throttle up alot when going up dunes and hills but on the 4 strokes the power is right there when u hit the throttle, and the yfz450 has a electric start.like i said, it all depends on if you are experienced rider. im not gonna flat out say a banshee just because this is bansheeHQ, nothin against it, but u gotta look at it in a different perspective then just the banshee is fast, its about the riders experience and the atv's preformance. if your a beginner go with a yfz450, if you have experience in riding get a banshee. im not forcing you to buy anything, its your choice, im just tryna help u out. remeber, you can always sell your atv, or trade it in.

I love the Banshee for any type of riding, only downsides is that you have to stay on the throttle and the handling isnt quite up to par with the YFZ 450. My advice is test drive em both if you can and pick what ever one you like better.

exactly what I was gunna say.

If you wanna race motocross get a 450 they cant be beat on the track. If you wanna drag race get a banshee they cant be beat in a straight line!!

If you are gunna primarily ride in tight woods go 4 stroke

if you are gunna primarily run wide open terrain and roads go 2 stroke

If you want a highly modifiable motor with potential for over 100 hp 2 stroke

if you want gobs of low end with good pull all over but mostly flat top end 4 stroke

If you want a quad that feels just like every other quad on the market (just some have more power than others but they are all the same kind of power) get a 4 stroke

If you want a quad that is so different than everything out there it is scarry get the shee

nothing has ever been produced nor will it be that feels like a motor that has a power stroke every 180 degrees of crank rotation ( twin cylinder 2 stroke) if you do go with the 450 at least ride a shee, everyone has to ride one before they die!!! there is simply nothing like it!!!

When I bought my Banshee I had the same decission to make. Both are cool no question, but he 450 costs a lot more. After reading about all the little quirks of the Banshee (no power till the revs come on, not a great trail rig......) I still opted for the Banshee because of how unique it is. What I have found with the Banshee - stock not the best trail rig, but still more than capable of riding trails. With a few hop ups it becomes a great trail rig. I added Works front shocks and a Noss head. These add ons weren't necessary, but greatly improved trail riding abilities. By improving the suspension I can ride the trails much faster, and the Noss very noticabley improved bottom end power. Also new tires go without say. Stock tires 450 or Banshee are crap. Many people say a Banshee does not handel well - those people are wrong. A Banshee just handles differently - you can use the Banshee wheel spinning power to manuver in many trail riding situations. In the end I don't think you will be unhappy with either the 450 or Banshee, and if your like a lot of us here you either wish you could add a 450 to the collection, or are some day going to get the 450 and still keep the Banshee. Likewise if you get a 450 you will still want a Banshee.
