jetting a 35 pwk

i just bought a used 35 pwk with a 2 into 1 intake . it is not a trinity intake , it is a dual tube about 4 inches long . i am getting huge amount of bog on low end and will not idle , lot of white smoke out of the pipes. i just put this on and have not started to adjust anything yet. i need some thoughts and opinions on what the problem is. it has a 50 pilot and 158 main i don't know what the needle is set at , i have not figured how to check that yet. the air screw is at 2.5 turns out. my mods are cool head 18 domes 181 compression , pro circuit pipes, fmf torque reeds, adjustable stator at 5 degrees, bored .40 over, open air box, 32:1 mix with vp red 104 fuel . this bike is a fully prepared mx shee that ran flawless with the stock dual carb setup. i switched to the single carb only for more low end for mx racing. i don't know the elevation here but i live in upstate ny syracuse , i would say 2000- 3000 elevation? sorry for the book thanks.....

At what point does it clear up and run smooth?? 1/4 throttle, 1/2 throttle?? Try a somewhere around a 42 or 45 on the pilot, and maybe go a clip leaner on the needle.

Fox has asked a good question, where does the bog clear up? Might try leaning the pilot like he suggested. Also, try the clip in the 3rd position. If it's in the 3rd, try leaning it one and then maybe try richening it one, especially after leaning the pilot.

Later.

Also just saw you dont know how to adjust the needle. Take the cap off the top of the carb and get it somewhere where you can easily see and move the slide. Push the throttle so the spring is compressed all the way, and hold it there so you can get to the inside of the slide. You can see how it is set up where the end of the throttle cable is seated into the nut thing. Just push it down and pull it out the side. Then get I think its a 7 or 8 mm wrench and take off the nut, and the needle will fall out. Adjust the needle and put everything back. It may sound complicated but its VERY easy, Keihin PWK carbs are the easiest I'v ever worked with.

Holy shit Scott, I think I laughed for 10 minutes straight over the smiley in your signature. It kinda reminds me of the guy in Saving Silverman with the moped hes always riding around.

Thanks, I've been getting lots of compliments on my little bud.

Sounds like you have the same intake manifold I have (graydon-proline) anyhow, pilot sounds big (I'd try a 48) main sounds small (I'd jump to a 170 to start) check the needle and check the clip position, check to see if the slide has been cut away, air screw sounds like it's adjusted out too far. Please take my advise with a grain of salt, as I am by no means a jetting guru, I just have the same intake / carb set up with somewhat similar engine mods, my advise above reflects my set up. Good luck.
