I have been getting cool antifreeze blown on my leg lately when Im pushing the revs pretty good and the last two times this has happened it was the head gasket. why am I going through head gaskets. I am torqueing the head nuts to specs, and I only have about 126 lbs of compression, nothing radical but I seem to be going through a head gasket every 15 tanks or so :shootself: what gives?????

any ideas appreciated!!

there isnt much point of saying this but iv never had that problem. the only time iv had antifreeze or coolant on my leg is when iv filled the radiator to full and it comes out the over flow. i used tractor coolant and anti freeze......the same stuff i put in the johndeere 6510.

come to think of it if its hot weather put coolant in there instead of antifreeze. i over here antifreeze is for keeping the water from freezing.....coolant is to keep the water cool i think...........im proberly wrong.....i usually am :(

sounds like something pressurizing the cooling system. something is cuasing the head gaskets to go, a nick or something in the top of the cylinder or head.

Thats what I'd think, either that or there was a spec of debris under or on top of the gasket as it was torqued down.

You'll see it when you pop the head off thats for sure.

If thats the case you can also sand it out yourself if you do it right.
