sweetshee4312
I got my little gas powered car...but i cant get the engine to run forr shit.....it will start, but only if u blow in the one tube going to the muffler. Or put gas in the glow plug hole.....then it will do little blips usually starting wise....start shut off, start shut off. After doing this for awhile it will idle, for liek 2 minutes, then jsut shut off, or it shuts off right when u take the glow starter out....if u take it out quick and go, it goes for 10 ft then shuts off, just goes boooo...off, ne one know wha i should do? stealthawd
clean your intake filter and change your glowplug. is it smoking normally or not smoking at all or smoking a lot? it sounds like your intake is closing off any air to your motor. when you are blowing in the exhaust, you are putting air into the cylinder enough to start it and it dies cuz it is to rich (not enough air)...you have probably fouled out your glowplug by running it pig rich. clean your air filter or replace it and see what that does for you. do NOT run it without an airfilter. remember, you only have one little bitty cylinder, so any ANY dirt will trash your motor. a speck of dirt is the equivalent to a pebble in your 'shee and a small rock in your auto. what kind of car? Wheatchex
First off it sounds like your carb mixture screw is not adjusted properly. Second when you blow into the exhaust tap tube you are pressurizing the fuel tank and forcing fuel into the carb, causing it to run. I would go to the manual that came with your engine and reset all the screws and adjustments to the factory settings. Then go from there and run the engine through the reccomended break in procedure. After that then start adjusting the carb but write your settings down as you make changes and record what it does. If you do this you will have a baseline as to how your engine responds to various changes. It is also much better to make one change at a time than two or more because you can tell exactly if the change is good or bad rather than trying to guess which change gave the desired effect if you change more than one thing. This is very similar to the banshee when adjusting it's carbs. Wheatchex
tithead
i think youll need to check the cables running into the hydrodigidometre. but i dont no much about r/c cars, just a suggestion
sweetshee4312
I will clean the air filter...it is blowing alot f fuel out the back..but really not smoking bad.....an dive tried air screw 1/2 turn out, it wanst good, and 3 turns out it was good, its best at 2, out, but it still wount run......but, sometimes, after i get it started it will run for like 2 or 3 minutes, if i keep the glow starter on there.... but as soon as u rev it, or take the starter off its stalls
stealthawd
if you're blowing fuel out excessively, then you are running pig rich and you're just flooding your cylinder. the reason it only runs with the igniter on is that you are keeping the igniter hot. as soon as you take it off, the excess fuel cools down the glowplug and it dies. same as when you give it throttle, it just cools the glowplug off. sweetshee4312
oo, this makes sense......how do i get it leaner in there?? what way should i put the air screw in or out?
initall
adjusting the high speed needle, screw the needle all the way in then back out 2.5 to 3 turns out. The idle srew should be at half to a full turn out. Make sure your hoses have no cracks or splices in them. I don't have my trucks anymore but here is what i had NXT with an A- main conversion This was my race truck shge screamed XXt electric HPI gas road car Traxxas Rustler GAs my beat the hell out of truck I still can't belive it is around i tried to kill it and it would not die RC 10 electric
.
what kind of engine are you running? That makes a big difference in tuning the carb. When it is idling is it spitting fuel out the pipe? You probably are going to have to lean out your low speed screw if it is. Adjusting that will make just as much difference in how it runs as adjusting your high speed needle. And if you dont have that set, its pretty much impossible to set the high speed how it should be. Always set your low speed before your high speed. Go get yourself 3 or 4 glow plugs. They make good ones that are made for the glow plug starters that are better than the regular ones and last a lot longer. I had a glow plug going bad that would cause my truck to do the same thing yours is. It would run, I could finally get it that I could pull the starter off it and it would stay running, but as soon as you would give it fuel it would die, or get a couple feet down the road and die, or run for a little while and then I'd let off the gas and it would die. If you have a 2.5, I can go into much more detail, if its something else I'm not to experienced with the other engines
