flipping rear tires?

Recommended Posts

i was riding out at Sand Mountain, and another guy on shee came up to me and we were talking about mods, and future mods and i told him i was going to buy a wider axle and a-arms, well he told me that all he did was flip the rear tires around. i may be wrong but wont that bend the rim pretty easily? or has anyone ever done it and not had any problems or what. i think if it was that easy, i would have heard of it by now.

I haven't tried to flip the stock rims around, but each time I've ordered a set of tires/rims from Rocky Mountain ATV I've had them mounted on the steel wheels that are off-set a little more that what the stock ones would be. Have never had a problem, but the steel rims are pretty tough.

i do it all the time and iv had no problems atol!....i race mx and tyres only last so long then we whip the wheels off and change sides. to me if im paying all that money for a tyre i want as much use as posible out of it and this is the best way to do it for me.

taking your left rim+ tire combo and putting it on the right side, will change the offsest of your tire making it have a wider track, about 3 inches each side.taking the tire off the rim and turning the tread pattern around will do nothing for stock tire except if the leading edge of the tread is starting to shark fin over, but on some tires like Realitors there made to be turned around for different uses.
