Blue Duece
What?!?! Bono ruled and Jones was good, but Page and Plant were the ones with the unmistakeable sound i guess youd have to define good, and that sound was john gylnns there producer and eddie krammer there engineer, you only sound as good as the guy turning the knobs..i was in a band with a kid who'd been playing guitar for 6 months and could play the entire song remains the same album note for note, jimmy page punched in 190 times to do the solo on heart breaker, you could cut three fingers off a good guitar player and he could still play that solo
banshee04le
Yeah well, I know Mutt Lange, and you sir are NO Mut Lange . j/k . All that I know is I can pretty much jam to just about any song on any one of their numerous albums...and I can't say that about many other groups/artists . Oilsmoke
I still Like Robin Trower, Pat Travers & Ted Nugent they could play the Six-String Gun. But Led still had the SOUND. Blue what do you think of the Band Saliva?
banshee04le
I know I'm not BD, but I can't help but respond... their acoustic offerings are very hard on my ears... IMO, they suck without proper "engineering" so I don't think much of their raw musical talent...

IMO, they suck without proper "engineering" so I don't think much of their raw musical talent... ill go with that....all of the mentioned "artists" are song writers, which is what atracts listeners, when you buy an album your hearing the output of someones console in a nut shell, shitty electronics make for a garbled, distorted sound hence the 950,000 dollar recording console and related goodies, then months of twisting those knobs (and yes often times turd polishing) to get to the end result......... Blue Duece
I still Like Robin Trower, Pat Travers & Ted Nugent they could play the Six-String Gun. But Led still had the SOUND.Blue what do you think of the Band Saliva? i dig robin trower, because of his tunes not his skills, an ok gtr player but nothing to write home about, pat travers is under rated his tunes never flooded the charts but a A+ rock, blues and fusion player, ted nugent just plain blows in my book, ya know how you can roll or "tap" your fingers in a pattern on say a desk 1,2,3 1,2,3 sounds like a horse running, thats a triplet or for a gtr player a triad.....knowing 3 chords on a guitar and then tapping in a triplet pattern on one string "hammering" gets all the kids to go WEE he's neato, but dont really impress me much....never listened to the band Saliva, so cant really comment on if they suck or not, and the led zepplin sound was eddie and john, all the cool tones echo's reverbs, delays, the cool delay on whole lotta love in the break after the bridge, were plant sings "Way down in side woman, you need" and you hear the cool slap delay on "woman" john wound the multitrack tape master, tails out and left it, and the magnitism or "print through" created that effect, digital signal prosessing was about 15 years out, making it much harder than todays engineers simply setting a delay on 90milliseconds and handing some fool a mic, all the cool shit you hear on the beatles abby road album is a bad mother fucker and he wasnt in the band

ledofthezep
banshee04lePosted: Sep 9 2004, 09:04 PM QUOTE (Blue Duece @ Sep 10 2004, 02:10 AM) QUOTE (therail @ Aug 12 2004, 05:57 PM) yeah well led zep sucks. that whole band just blows major ass. haha jerk jp jp nuthuh the drummer and bass player were decent, not great but fair...... What?!?! Bono ruled and Jones was good, but Page and Plant were the ones with the unmistakeable sound and style that can never be duplicated or trancended. dooby doo ba bop a doo ahhh my my my my my my yeahhh . Bonzo...Bono is U2... And I've never heard anyone play drums like John Bonham, Jonesie was a musical mastermind & still is to this day...Page, well... Enough said....Plant, never to this day have I heard someone get down vocals like that man, I've seen him live and it was probably one of the best experiences of my life--even better than when I lost my virginity. jimmy page punched in 190 times to do the solo on heart breaker, you could cut three fingers off a good guitar player and he could still play that solo Sorry,...but heart breaker was Page's least favorite song of theirs, off any album...he hated the song. Let's see you play the solo... But Led still had the SOUND. Correct-o-mundo. I don't go as far to say Led Zeppelin was the best band ever to walk the face of the earth...one of the best, but I don't believe there is a best. Zeppelin is unique, check out all their albums & if you're a music lover you'll have mad respect for their versatility and ability. That's why they are my favorite band, just because whatever mood I'm in, they've got a song that I can jam to... Too many people know Led Zeppelin by radio play...which is bullshit, Stairway & Heartbreaker are not songs I'd tell a new zep listener to check out...I always suggest the 3rd album, anything other than IV really. The 4th album is good, but you really need to check out the other albums, fo shizzle. OR get 'How The West Was Won" ---Live & it doesn't get any better than live Zeppelin. Party on! Oilsmoke
You got to love the Roostin Room Muhehehehe Led before you reply to Blue Dick what is you Favorite Led Song? banshee04le
Another under rated band worth checking out imo is Stir... Have you ever heard of them BD? They definitely didn't get the backing from their label that they deserved. Every song I have heard from them is good. Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band ...under rated.... Blue Duece
You got to love the Roostin Room Muhehehehe Led before you reply to Blue Dick what is you Favorite Led Song? Blue give Me the 3 Best Gauitor Player that are Still alive . Larry Carlton Grant Giesmann Lee Ritinour None of which play for Saliva or Drip or Drool, or any of these other, three cord wonders that have been mentioned they have played on more artist albums, than any other guys in the history of music.... when a guitar player needs a guitar player they dont call jimmy page to sit in, Les Paul the guy who invented the gibson jimmy plays could smoke him....... if jimmy page is christ how come the black crowes record sales hit an all time low when they decied to team up with the chosen one? answer, because the record buying population is no longer intrested, show me the billboard chart with robert plant on it?, so they not only cant play or sing, but can no longer write a hit tune, find me a record label that would sign either of them fucks.....on the other hand Bob seiger is still writing and producing for many artists that are on the charts......no ones beating jimmy page's door down to even tour. and dont try to blow the smoke up my ass that "well he doesnt want to or he would" the fuckin idiot couldnt fill a denys let alone a major venue.....a good musician is not allways a song writer, and theres plenty of song writers that cant even play a fuckin Kazoo......diane warren has more grammys than any 20 bands you can think of and ill bet you cant name me one tune she's written, like i said just cause someone thinks, a guy sounds cool doesnt make him a virtuoso....... when led zepplin got signed to atlantic records 60 percent of all bands got signed.......today, less than a percent get signed...i dont think Led or DickSmoke would know a good guitar player if they heard one.....so neener neener Edited September 11, 2004 by Blue Duece
