racer
when you put a hole in the dome of a piston do you have to split the case?
XTShee
Do you mean in the top of the piston? If so then you could just replace the pistons if the cylinders aren Edited August 3, 2004 by XTShee

svtkid78
holy shiot thats some serious troubles there. are you referring to your dome size when you say you have 19's in there. If so you probably shouldn't be running pump gas alone. also is your timing advaced at all. as for splitting the cases, unless it went out the exhaut port the metal had to go somewhere. Atleast pour some gas in your crankcaste and flush it around then blow some good pressured air in and see if you spot any of those shavings. some reasons for your problem are prolonged exposure to improper air/fuel mixtue (lean) improper ignition timing or too low of octane. list your mods and jetting setup. by the size of that hole your problem has been there for awhile. svtkid78
IF YOU HAVE SOME PRETTY GOOD NICKS IN YOUR DOMES THAT CAN,T BE SMOOTHED OUT YOU NEED TO REPLACE THEM. THEY WILL JUST CAUSE HOT SPOTS RESULTING IN THE SAME PROB. IS YOUR IGNITION ADVANCED?

racer
jim talked me out of it. not sure what im gonna do. he said that he'd only done two bigbores and and he just couldnt do them right. both of those jobs got botched and he had to eat the whole price tag for new everything right down to the jugs. since its ported already a stroker motor is pretty much out of the ?. the good news is that it didnt ruin my LR crank. im thinkin when i have my money set up right ill take it to tulsa and have passion put in new sleeves, pistons, and have it all port matched. i guess ill be splitting the case again to check for any debris in the bottomend. there was some but i blew it out with air, im still goin in for a closer inspection though.
