kids atv

My kids decided that they wanted atvs instead of their bikes. They have a PW50 and PW80 right now. I was wondering if anyone hee could point me in the right direction on a couple of atvs for the kids. I would probably want to upgrade them in the future so that would be a consideration for me. Thanks in advance

Well, I dont know what upgrades are available for 50 and 80-90 cc quads. I have to assume that there cant be much, but I have been wrong before. If your kids are under 10 or so I would say that I have heard that the Susuki LT 50 and LT 90 are really reliable and good quads. They cost around 1700$ new. But you can also look on ebay and find some taiwan ones brand new for around 600$ all day long, plus 200$ in shipping. So 800 for a new quad, I doubt there is much for aftermarket parts for these though. Check out ebay..

BTW: I just6 put my 4 year old on a 50cc mini raptor today (at the stealership). My boy is a stocky kid (51# of dense bone and muscle, with a lil chubb), and he ft on it no prob. Now he is buging me bad for one. :shootself:

My nephew(10yo, 5'0",70-80lbs,) has the Raptor 80. Other then taking my banshee out ONCE(yeah i know...) for a short ride, he has no riding experience, and took to this bike rather fast.

He's had it for a few years now, and still enjoys riding it. We ride mostly dunes, and hard packed sandy areas. He has no problem staying w/ me on rides.

My friends' daughter(8 or 9yo, 4'?" ??lbs) has the same bike. The only experience she's had was riding my nephews 80 a few times. Shes only had it for about 5 or 6 months now, but can ride fairly decent(yes she can out ride my nephew... )

Both bikes have been rolled a few times and still are in great shape.

The only down side is that the bike doesnt have head lights. Which isn't really that big a deal, but still would be nice.

here's a link to it on Yamahas website...Raptor 80

trx70, 90, lt80, rap-turd 80, polaris 90 are all good choices, the trx70 being my favorite if you can find one, I had one I got from BenBB and it was a tank and still a blast even with my 280lb ass on it.

The Taiwan ones {Pantera especially} are junk. My friend bought one for his nephew. They sell them at the local Pep Boys for about $900 out the door. It looks like a Honda 90 engine copy but that's where the good part ends. It has no low end power, goes too fast, the steering is really jerky and very difficult to control at higher speeds, doesn't shift well, never ran worth a crap, choke lever fell off, battery cover fell off and the rear shock is leaking oil. Total ride time... less than 1 tank full.

If I was to buy I would look for the Polaris. They are as simple as you can get, use alot if not all American bolts, no shifting and you could take a 90 and throttle it down enough to keep a little kid from going too fast but a bigger kid {me ;) } could probably have some fun on it too.

If you want to try a Taiwan quad, I know someone that would let his go for ZERO profit and send it down the road.
