98bonerSTOCKshee
I myself have been to Little Sahara in OK but not Kermit. Little Sahara is about 900 acres. How big is Kermit? Oklahoma does have some descent dunes, nothing of what I can only image at Glamis I hear. How does Kermit compare? It's about 8hrs to little S if I drag my heals, my brother thinks Kermit would be 12 plus hrs from Dallas. The time difference is no biggie. Are there fees @ Kermit? later... axle
Kermit is 2500 acres , there is no fees , and it's only about 7 hours to kermit from dallas. If you decide to come to kermit let me know and i'll try to meet you there. Later

98bonerSTOCKshee
Ok I got this map 15 miles NE of kermit. Does someone know which side of the road this place is at? I am thinking the NW corner here. aerial map
BenBB
Mapquest sez OKC is 500 miles, 9hrs from Kermit. Kermit is worth checkin' out I think, I haven't made it to LS yet so can't compare, but the area is huge. There are no fees, regs, rangers, or facilities (small asphalt parking lot, 4 or 5 covered picnic tables; no water or potties). That map looks like the place, right on Highway 115 between Kermit and Andrews (the dunes are about 5 miles outside Kermit, that map is in Km). The parking area is right in the center of the pic, right where that road (county road?) intersects 115, at the North corner. If you guys plan a trip lemme know, I might be there. 98bonerSTOCKshee
I am good to go anytime between the 17th thru the 22nd this month... I 'll be going solo this trip. I can't get none of my brothers or friend to go with me, they think it's too far...Whatever! It's not like we never drive all night to check out a new place to ride.. They are being anal! Anyhow I am good to go... What about anyone else? I don't want to make the trip unless I know someone will be there. I do try to use the buddy system.. sredish
I might get in this myself. I'm not too sure about dates at this time, but I've been wanting to check out kermit. I might consider bringin the 40' Motorhome as well, seein as the services are so outstanding. I've heard the dunes at kermit overall are prety good though. later. Travis's Banshee
Kermits an awesome place to ride. Took the family out for spring break this year. 20,000+ acres. Theres a fair sized paved area to park w/covered picnic tables. Definitely no services until you get to Kermit. Dunes are fair sized, but no real big ones. Its on the left side of the road as your heading NE out of kermit. Probably 12 miles or so out of town. IT was a 12 hour drive from just north of Tulsa. There was no one there during the week of spring break. Just us and a couple of othere people. It looked like it might get a little more crowded during the weekend. If you have the time to drive out there its worth it. Theres also another place to ride south of I-10. Its real small, but some decent sized dunes and good bowls. This place is good for a day ride. Smooth sand and real secluded.

Travis's Banshee
I think the place south of I-10 was on Ranch Rd 1601. Its somewhere between Monahans and Crane. About 6-7 miles south of 10. I was following a local I met at kermit, so I was just trying to remember my way out. As far as which one is better, I think Kermit is better if your going just to ride 'til ya drop. Its about 6 miles by 5 miles. 30sq miles is lot of riding area.If your looking to ride and party then LS is probably the hot spot. Kermit has a couple motels and stores. There not as set-up as Waynoka is yet.
