sredish Posted July 28, 2004 Report Share Posted July 28, 2004 280 sounds like a good place to start then. make sure you check your plugs. you may try your needle in the 4th clip down if it's not there now. i ran 27.5 pilots in my stock carbs, if your using 25s, you may just wait to see how they work for you first. sredish Posted August 1, 2004 Report Share Posted August 1, 2004 that's fine if you want to run a plug test. i will say, however, that i have a lot of experience with dealers, and i'd say that maybe 10% actually know where to start with jetting mods. in fact, most say just reference the jet kits that come with pipes and such and it becomes problematic if they don't have a suggested jetting. I'm not saying he's wrong, but for him to just say that 240 is okay tells me he's not giving it too much thought, especially considering you ahve a 250 with the pipes, is he saying that you should go down with the added airfilter? If your at 250, then a more free flowing air filter should be good for a size or two, maybe three depending on what kind and how free flowing. I have to agree with sredish on this one, I run Fatty's, K&N, lid on, at 1500ft and I'm jetted with 300-320 mains, stock needle in the middle and 27.5 pilots. You can trust the mechanic if you want, but, for your own peace of mind, do a plug check first thing when you get the bike back home.
