what will a bent axle do to bearings?

Recommended Posts

I bought this used stock axle that was powdercoated an off white color, you might have seen it. I installed the axle and new bearings and seals and the axle was bent worse than the one I allready had. My question is when I get my new axle should I install new bearings again since I rode on this axle for a couple days (3 tanks) or will those bearings be good as long as I dont damage anything when i pull this axle and install the new one??

still waitin for a responce about the bent axle deal <_<

its bent right at the splines for the hub on the right side... that side dosn't pass through the carrier when you put it in or take it out so that will be ok as long as I didnt mess up my new bearings riding on it... banghead

My opinion is to spend the money on a new set of bearings, if you are going to replace your axle anyway, might as well, make it a done deal and not have to replace the bearings a month later. But, if you dont have the money, those should get you by for a little while. The only issue is that you will have to replace your seals, I cant see how you will get them out without damaging them. And if you are going to replace your seals you should replace your bearings (IMO).

Good luck

shit....just swappin out another axle is going to waste the bearings and seals....

What are they 20 bux for a set? Order um up do it right....stay away from fleabay and buy your used parts here.

that will be 50 bux please.

i hate to tell you but if you are tearing up seals and bearings swapping out axles you need to just let someone else od it. ive swapped out axles many times and never once tore anything up. nick, just be careful takin it out and keep on using them. i SERIOUSLY doubt you did anything to them since they are not very old.

I think Ill theck em out good and as long as everything looks good I'll run em... thanks for the help!!
