Calling All Banshee Guru's

All right brothas, so far you guys have been the bomb and haven't steered me wrong :clap: . Whenever there is a problem I turn to the BHQ like it 's the holy bible, what the hell am I talking about IT IS THE BIBLE!!! :dance: So I call on the gods once again :rolleyes: . I am going to attempt to jet my banshee -after I religiously read the jetting article and FAQ's- but I was hoping to jump a couple of steps by asking the pros what I should try as the standard custom size jets for my DG exhaust and stock replacement air filter. I will be ditching the airbox snorkel since I don't go river rafting on my shee. I live in Long Island, New York and I am not that much off sea level. I know that I am not going to recieve the perfect jet sizes but at least I 'll know what to work off of and I'll take it from there. Any help would be so appreciated. Please don't let me lose my love one and have her death on my hands :cry: LoL you guys rock :headbang:

K&N stock replacement filter

Stock airbox minus the snorkel

Not much above sea level (LI,NY)

I'm not too familiar with how the DG's jet compared to others. I'd say you might end up between a 280 and a 300 on the main. If your leaving the air box lid on, then it will be a little less. So, lid on, start with a 280; lid off, start with a 300 and hopefully that will be a little on the rich side allowing you to work down.

 

I'd try the needle in the third clip, but it may end up being better in the fourth in the winter, you'll just have to try, and I'd stick with the stock pilot for now.

 

Also, I'd get rid of that "stock replacement filter" and get a Pro Design Pro Flow with a Uni or K&N, whichever is to your liking. If not, you'll be leaving yourself succeptible to sucking in dirt around the shitty stock filter setup. The above jetting should work with that filter setup.

I also have no experience w/ DG exhaust, but I'd expect around a 280-300 main also. I'd also try moving the needle into the 4th clip and go from there. If your shee likes it, then go up on the needle some more. Find the sweet spot....If the shee starts hard when cold, then try a larger pilot.

With the K&N airfilter I will be keeping the stock air box lid, and from what I read I should be alright with stock pilot jet or one size up. I definetely appreciate the help and I will be keeping you guys updated- in other words I will be bothering you guys again for help banghead - but at least I know where to start. You guys f'ing rock :headbang: We're not worthy :drool: lol am out!

OH YEAH you guys are probably wondering what the hell made me buy DG pipes? answer= $$$ I got them for a cheap ass price and I coudln't take the sound of the muzzled stock pipes no more!!!! let the bitch scream!!! :evil:

Thanks for askin Jag. I've been up and riding for a month or so now. I'm all healed up good now.

 

As far as the DGs, whatever works, anything is better than stock and if you got a deal on them, run the shit out of them, as I'm sure they'll work fine for ya.

:yank: Hehehe very funny Motul :shootself: but enough with the the funny shit, the weekend is almost here and I already put the pipes on and the shee sounds sweet! My filter should be arriving between the next two days, along with my chain and 13 tooth countershaft sprocket, so I am ready rock this weekend. Am out :bolt:

:whoa: I was begininng to think that I was the only one in the BHQ who had bought DG pipes. I thought that maybe there was something wrong with my choice, thanks LINCSTER, I will definetely try this setup first along with the other inf you guys gave. OH YEAH, how did you like the setup(DG)? I was comparing headers to my friends FMF Fatty pipes and his have more curves then mind. Don't know what this means though :wacko: Edited by jag706

Well this wekend came and went and I didn't lay a hand on her. :cry: Friggin engagement party I promised to attend, and the other day got rained out. Good thing though for I found out from a buddy of mind that stock needles aren't adjustable and I had to buy a jet kit. So I called the dealer and they said $90 :whoa: So I ordered it online at Rocky Mountain ATV and saved $30 and it'll be hear for the weekend, NICE :headbang:

Jag, I hate to break it to ya buddy, but most carb needles are adjustable in height, just move the little clip to another groove....

Yeah dude, like J.J. said, stock carbs, like most all carbs have adjustable

needles. There's a C-clip on the needle as you will see when you disassemble your slide assembly. Raise the clip to lower the needle (leaner)

or lower the clip to raise the needle (richer). Tell your buddy he's a boob,

fool, chump, dumbass...or one of your choice.

I had DG's on my old 96'. They made good power but fit like ass.

I had to grind down the lever on the petcock (funny word) of my fuel tank

to clear the pipe and then could still only turn it to reserve.
