I thought that was the powerband screw, like that one is yellow, which goes with the yellow powerband. I have the green powerband and am using a blue screw, I thought it would be worth a few ponies anyway. :bolt:

Tis true, I played with the needle on all kinds of different settings, got larger pilots and tried 340-380's with various clip positions on my stock carbs.

Ended up gettig 33mm PWK's and all issues went away. I was jsust not able to get it to run properly with the stock carbs with the 12-port. soon as I got rid of the stock garbage it ran perfect. Was well worth all the money I spent now and I don't have issues anymore. Ditch those stock carbs or you will have a huge headache.

Are both sides firing the same?

I sounds to me like you need to make sure your working on the right parts...

Or does it simply smoke more out of one side?

When you had the head off the second time did you check to make sure it was not slightly warped?

Need a better description of the problem really...Mine did run with stock carbs but would break and sounded like shit WOT no matter how large of main jets I put in and where I had my toomy needles set at.

do you still have the TORS connected to your carbs ?

Im 136% sure that picture I posted shows the air screws. These are the screws that you need to set at or about 1-1\2 turns out. 1-1\2 turns should get you in the ballpark, its a good place to start and its actually the ideal setting for the air screws.

Your IDLE screws are found on top of your TORS units if you still have them on your carbs. Take off your seat and look down at the top of your carbs, the TORS will be located on top of your carbs. The TORS have a carb cap attached to em and they are box\rectangle shaped. There is one TORS unit for each carb. On the TOP of each of the TORS.... under the seat... you will see a very large screw.... one screw on each of the TORS. These screws are your idle screws.....

:headbang:

now just fine tune it.... like jim suggested in the other thread. adjusting those air screws will get rid of any low end bogging. adjust em in 1\8 increments. Or do this.... look at your air screws and picture the face of a clock, adjust the screws one "hour" at a time till she pulls cleanly on the bottom end. bottom end meaning..... throttle postion from idle to say...1\4 throttle. If you turn those air screws OUT.... it will LEAN the mixture, if you turn those air screws IN it will RICHEN the mixture. Start out by turning the air screws IN so your richen the mix, if it bog worse, then you know that you have to turn the air screws OUT\LEAN IT UP. If you have those air screws turned out more than 3 turns out from seated..... then you'll have to bump up your pilot jet size to a 30.
