The Rebel
Yeah, turtle pussy, that's probably pretty tight. Little off topic , but still tight. As far as looking at some thing else, you are right there. I am having a problem on the low side, and it got worse when I swapped the 2-1 on it. It's acting like an electrical problem, fluttering when you crack the throttle open then clearing up about 3/8 throttle. It seems to get better when I lean the pilot out, or open the air screw up. I started with a 50 pilot, 175 main and a DGK needle in the 4th groove down. Bike wouldn't run for shirt. Blubbering and fluttering and would never clear up. When I screwed the air screw out 5 turns and raised the clip to the top groove it started to get "rabid", but still had a bad flutter in the bottom end. Changed the pilot to a 42, air screw 2 turns out and 165 main. Ran a little better on the bottom (talkin 1/4 throttle) but was way too lean, bogged like hell. Back to the 175 and clip in 3rd groove. Still has flutter in bottom, but pulls like a raped ape when it gets on the main. I am out of patience at this point. Have been chasing this for 2 weeks now. Have had brand new 34PJs on it, does the same but worse, because of more airflow into the cylinders. It acted the same when I put the 2-1 on it, more airflow into the cylinders amplified the problem. The engine is fresh, new everything. 150 psi per side. Just started this shit one day and haven't found the bug yet. Any thoughts on this. Yes I feel that 2-1 has potential, just chasing something else right now. Talk about a post whore............
The Rebel
Oh, BTW, sheeman those plugs look good to me. Get a good light and look down inside the plug at the insulator, ther will be a fire ring(or smoke ring) down at the base. It should be dark ash or chocolate colored. Those ground straps look good. Sorry to hog up your post dude. sredish, see what you started.....Rebel
Banchetta
Plugs are BR8ES used for about an hour of hard riding...Base ring looks light... could it be because they haven't been used long enough or am I too lean? If that was a wide open run in 6th gear, then I'd say your perfect on the lighter plug....You can see where half you strap is black and the other half is brown, that means your perfect and running the most power and still be safe for long pulls...thats what my plugs always look like when I'm jetted perfect. Shee_Man
lol... yeah, little off-topic... but it's cool. Thanks for all the opinions guys. So final verdict is to leave my jetting alone... i'm fine as is... can't do any airbox mods either since i'd for sure be too lean then? cdw
When I do my WOT plug checks, I just pin it for about 4 seconds in forth gear and let it scream. That way I know I can hold wide open for a long while without having to worry. What do you guys think?? Thanks, Curtis
sredish
I always go to 5th or 6th, this way the motor pulls even harder and it could still lean some. Unless, your normal riding NEVER get you into these gears, then don't worry.
Banchetta
Agreed, 6th gear puts more load on the motor and will lean out more than in 4th gear...I run my shee in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds....If jetted right, you should be able to run it for a mile w/o even worrying about it...
