racer
ditch the watter wetter and get some engine, really great shit. did you replace the gear with a plastic factory one or did you find a billet one somewhere, if you got a billet one post the site cause i want one. o and you can reuse your side case gasket if its not torn, some get one try before they tear it but ive taken mine off like 4 times and its still good. troyminator
I just did my pump/gear/seals. I also put the plastic one in. I didn't get a new e-ring, because they didn't have them in stock...but mine looked ok anyhow. Piece o'cake. Just be careful when installing the new bearing back in...don't let it get cock-eyed. Also, make sure you pay attention to the direction that the seal goes in. Good Luck, T
Lepew
I assume your trying to solve a overheating issue. It seemed I always overheated when I rode hard at the dunes. I tried everything, new waterpump, head gasket, jetting, water wetter and finally I got the solution. I purchased a quality temperture gauge from ESR after seeing one on a freinds 250r. It is money well spent. On stale days or riding with the wind you don't get enough air thru the radiator, or when your ripping hill climb after hill climb. Coolheads, oversized radiators, aftermarket impellers, coolant additives all probably help try to cool it faster but a gauge will tell you when your banshee needs a break to cool down, perferrably pointed in the wind. sredish
also i never heard of a billet gear i was just going to get a yamaha one don't get a yamaha piece of plastic shit. get a pro design aluminum impeller off of ebay and make sure it never melts/breaks. also, use engine ice not watter wetter. watter wetter is good for 5 or 10 degrees straight, mixed it ain't shit, and engine ice is used straight and is good for 50 degrees. knight_ripper
Yes replace that O-Ring. Mine went bad after replacing the kicker gear. I had coolant spewing all over my boot and pipes in high gear only...... It was weird....didnt leak when idleing or in low gears .... but the second I went WOT.....the shit was spraying everywhere..... What I did to fix it....cause I didnt know where it was coming from...in this order.... Hoses.... clamps.... radiator.... O-Ring.....
