trialsallday Posted July 21, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 21, 2004 im sure you guys heard of that k+k shop its got a 2 page add in the mags, well any ways there about 1 hour from my house and they said there kinda particular to lrds and there a serious atv shop so i figuer they know there banshees. i want mid-high. i love the turners to and rockets were my first choice but i think ill burn my legs, also my shee is an 04 bone stock. its just that this local shop is all about the lrd's so i thought it might be a good decision. bignasty1 Posted July 21, 2004 Report Share Posted July 21, 2004 i had the rockets on my last bike and loved the shit outta them. i never bernt my legs they didnt seem to get to to hot like a set of toomeys or my old fmf's i never got burnt and i mostly rode trails where i was huggin the bike. trust me dude go with the rockets. trialsallday Posted July 21, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 21, 2004 ya but my shee is BONE stock i thought that they were more for shees with some work done on them. are you saying if i put rockets on it will be just fine for all kinds of riding. and with no work done. minkia do you know what the jetting should be for a stock banshee with rockets. i already but a uni foam filter with stock airbox and no holes cut. do the rockets come with jet kits. bignasty1 Posted July 21, 2004 Report Share Posted July 21, 2004 yeh the rockets do great on a bone stock bike. my bike dint have any port work done to it when i had the rockets on it all i ran was either 2 k&n's or no lid on the box. they really tuck into the frame nicely where my legs were getting burn on the toomey's i had. but on a stock bike they are great. i had toomey's, fmf's, procircuit, and the rockets and my rockets were by far the best pipe. and i bought mine from minkia and i can tell ya first hand he is a breeze to work with i gave hime a shitty time schedual and a almost late deliviery on my part of the deal and he still hooked me up on time with evrything i asked for so i wouldnt be nervouse in the least bit with dealing with him. . Posted July 21, 2004 Report Share Posted July 21, 2004 I'll get some pics for you in a minute. I love the hell out of my LRD's and dont think I'd ever go with another pipe. The low end pull on them is amazing and I can putt around in the woods all day long if I want to. When it starts coming into the powerband it is a nice smooth hit so instead of either being off the pipe or on the pipe, you can sit in its sweet spot and it has lots of power and is very smooth. On top end, my buddy and I with the same exact setup, but him with T5's with a rolling start both getting on it at the same time my LRD's would pull just a little bit longer than the T5's. I'd walk away from him by a bike length or so every time as well. He'd walk on me when we switched as well so it wasnt just the rider. Best thing I've found about the pipe is that when hitting hillclimbs instead of having to clutch it or downshift and chance popping the front end up and all that crap, you can just stay with the throttle, and it'll pull you up the rest of the hill, much like a 4stroke will. The torque on them is great when it starts falling down out of the powerband. I run mine at 2 turns out from turned in all the way (top end), and basically adjusting the pipe determines where in the rpm range the powerband will start to hit. It's a nice adjustment to be able to make and allows you to sit in that sweet spot of right on the powerband when riding in the woods. And when you do mods to your engine and such, you can adjust it so it'll still be in that sweet spot. Instead of building a quad around your pipes, and adjusting the way you ride, and how you have to ride, you can adjust your pipe to your quad, your riding style, and the conditions of your riding. Everyone says they leak and blah blah blah, and they will if you adjust them after you set the silicone. I'd throw the pipes together, and then silicone around the outside of where they connect, and then you can adjust them over the first couple weeks (about a 1/2 turn at a time) and find where you want your powerband coming on, figure out where its set, pull them apart, and silicone the heck out of them. They are an amazing pipe, K&K know what they are talking about.
