fixitrod
There are ups and downs to both cut head and spacer. With a cut head you have one less gasket and gasket surface to fail. Here's something I have heard about spacer plates. If you get a spacer and the proper builder, you can gain transfer volume which the banshee is short on anyway. You can also have the spacer epoxied to eliminate the gasket surface failing. It's up to you and the builder you choose. I can also tell you that you definitley want it ported to match the extra stroke.
Oilsmoke
nasty01bansheePosted: Jul 24 2004, 10:04 PM i got the stroker w/ 5mm rods, wiseco 795 pistons & base spacer gasket.... next move is to ditch the base spacer and go with cool head stroker domes.... just have'nt decided what cc yet.... *oh yeah, dune port !!!!! It is my understanding if you build a long stroker with a base plate and than port to that hieght you can't go back to a cut dome or it will drop all your porting. It would put all your lower port edges EX, Tranfers under your piston Bottom dead center hieght. Am I right ?
PassionRE
You can go back to a stroker dome later if your engine was set up with the decking plate to begin with. The ex. and transfer ports will be below the piston edge, but that is irrelevent. Your tranfer duration and ex. duration will be less, but most stroker dome strokers have less anyway. For that matter, you can go back to a 350 crank if you wish with porting room to spare...Jim
