brock_fuzzy_69
after i thought about it for a few if you decided to add weight to the front bumper why nto cut a length of copper tube that fits inside the front bumper themn pour melted lead wheel weights into the copper tube so that you can slip it in and out of the front bumper most tires shops keep a 5 gal bucket laying around for the weights and give them to whoever wants them we melt the lead in an old sausepan on the coleman stove works great
Indubitably
I saw on a drag bike once they just put the gas tank in the front to keep the front end down. Don't think that would help with the sleeper concept though. Try to set the compression down more on the rear shock so it compresses more when u come off the line. Minkia38
think im gonna try the weighted front bumper idea......
Cotton eyed Joe
It might only be 20 lbs, but where does that move your CG? There are 2 things that I would worry about. One is, you are trying to keep the front end down under full acceleration. What happens when you let off the gas and you get the weight transfer to the front, that is now 20lbs heavier than it was from the factory....I'm sure with floaty sand tires in the front you wouldn't dig in too bad, but I would test it out a time or two. The other involved the CG again. You've just moved the CG, effectively taking weight off of the rear tires. If you need less traction why not go with less paddles? That would keep the front end down, and if you have the HP to spin the holy shit out of them, gear it up a little. It would kill your hole shot enough to keep you planted, but then you could possibly make up for it in the higher end. Dunno...I've not done much drag racing, and I've never messed with adding weight. Just some observations using my back yard engineering skillz. mrmatt
Get an extended 'stock' swingarm. I bet you could add 3-4 inches and no one would notice. Last time I checked, Quiksand did this for a little over $100. Edited July 22, 2004 by mrmatt
rebelbanshee2
or even on of those bolt on kits would still look relatively stock
racer
damn right cotton. why the hell would you add weight to go faster?!?!? i think you should just do what you can by moving up on the tank or try lessening your grip with some 8 paddle haulers, lowering your gears and starting in 2nd or 3rd
cyberkrazze
adding weight will help to keep you down, but it's that much more weight working against you in acceleration, it's more weight to haul around, i wouldn't add weight.

Great point. That 20lbs will just be giving your bike more entertia.
00BANSHEE
My .02 I had a sleeper myself and alot people always made comments about a stock looking banshee out running the drag bikes. I had right at 80 hp with a +1.5" extended swingarm. I couldn't keep the front end down at all. So I bought an adjustable lowering strut for the rear and dropped the rear down just one notch and ran about 10 psi in my haulers and was able to launch in second with the throttle pinned. The front came up about 4 inches off the ground and stayed there through about 4th gear then settled down. Always got the holeshot and stayed out front. Damn it, now I am starting to miss her. How do you like your new 450? I just sold mine, i trade all the time. The 450 was a great bike though. I had the high compression piston, hot cams intake and exhaust cams, ported, 180 main, 45 pilot, gyt-r needle, gyt-r pipe, ron woods race intake, holeshots and beadlocks all around, much more....it ran awesome! Last time I checked, Quiksand did this for a little over $100. thats exactly what I was going to say. You could definitely extend it a little bit and noone would notice, and then you could play with your gears, and paddles and I'm sure you could get it to launch pretty darn good. Weight = badddddd

00BANSHEE
Damn even the full front fenders. That is a sleeper. I like the 450 alot. I have been wanting to race a few grand prix races they have here local and I think the 450 will do better in that type of riding then my banshee would have. I had my banshee built to run WOT in the sand. Wish I could have kept both but I am getting ready to build a house so I had to pick between the two. I don't care what anyone says though, after owning both of them, the banshee is still king of the dunes.
