Busted my Ankle up bad.

Recommended Posts

Well Guys,

I was doing some hill climbing when my foot simply slipped off of the peg and got gobbled up by my back tire. This was at the bottom of the hill before I even started the climb. I must of got knocked off of balance by a small hole or something. Anyway my foot is ankle is broke in three plases, both sides and the back bone of the ankle. I needed to get a surgerey and am going to be in a cast for 8 weeks. Right now I am typing this on perkecetes so don't mind the spelling.

Anyway, long storry short I wish I could go back in time and buy some nerf bars and riding boots. I think it would have done me much better than stock foot pegs with shell toes.

Compared with the money I will loose from work I could have bought 20 pairs of nerf bars, probably more.

But as they say hindsight is 20-20.

I didn't even fall off the shee. My buddy saw the whole thing happen and said that it didn't even look bad. Oh well, glad it didn't happen in 6th gear, you know.

I will probably sell it when I get around to walking a little bit more. I know I am pussing out but I can never get on that thing and ride it the way it ought to be ridden after an accident like that. If I got hurt again I would never forgive myself.

Anyway those are my centiments now.

Coop

Sounds pretty damned nasty, Don't do anything rash like sell the Shee.

I was in a very similar boat about six years ago, and sold my Banshee after I recovered - something I still regret doing.

Trust me - You will not feel the same way about yourself until you get back on the beast and conquer your fear.

Damn coop, sorry to hear that. I agree with Lukkyphil tho, you will regret it if you sell it, just give it some time and don't focus too much on the accident, these things happen to all of us so don't let it get the best of you. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear about the foot / ankle, hope you make a speedy full recovery. For those who don't care to run conventional nerf's IMS makes some nice heel guards that work well protecting your feet from the tires.

Well sorry to hear about your ankle, hope it heals soon. Also I am sure there are a ton of us who have been hurt on the Shee, but you gotta get back on and ride. Just remember when you think you have conquered your Shee, that's when it will BITE YA. I know I didn't fully respect the power until I broke my collerbone. Now I have much respect for my Shee and it's not even piped, "yet" :o Take care...

I busted my leg(near the ankle) last summer in a street bike accident, so i know what your going through(sucks a$$). I had riding boots on at the time, but they're no match for a car....

As much as laying around doing nothing sucks, do it, and stay off that leg.

and dont go selling your bike just yet. At least not until your all healed up, and are able to at least take one more ride on her. If at that time you still feel the same way..then put 'er up for sale.

oh and by the way, i found that a wire coat hanger was the best for getting at those little anoying itches, and use a heavy duty draw string garbage bag over the cast if u have to take a shower!..... ;)

speedy recovery!!!!
